Hello ...
A person I know was delivering for amazon in the winter. They were on their last delivery, a house that ran along a river bank. After a drive down to the river (a small narrow lane) it became obvious the river had burst its bank, there was no way by car to get through. They pulled into a Riverside pub and parked whilst they walked up onto a bridge to see if there was any way to walk the parcel through to the customer. It still wasn't easy to see, so they phoned Amazon driver assist. (It's in india) amazon then phoned the customer and after about 15 minutes the customer confirmed he was completely housebound and there was no way he could be reached ..it was agreed to returned the parcel to the depot. After walking back to his car the driver had an idea that if the landlord agreed could the parcel be left at the pub for customer to collect when the waters finally subsided . Thus saving additional drivers having the same problem over the next few days.
The driver not being a customer could see an open entrance to the kitchen so went to that door, explained the situation to the chef. Who then took the driver through the kitchen and went to see the landlady who was happy to take the parcel in, helping her community.
The driver then realised he needed to tell amazon of his plan so walked back up onto the bridge where he has a signal. He phoned India...they phoned the customer. Unfortunately he didn't like the idea and told amazon.who then phoned the driver back and told him he needed to return the parcel to the warehouse.

The driver had visited the pub a few times before as a customer but not for at least a year. There was never any parking restrictions with the pub. And with all the stress it never dawned on him to worry about any parking restrictions. He was just trying to do his job.  He was surprised a couple weeks later when a fine was posted to his house. Thinking it Was a mistake he went to the pub. Saw the landlady and explained.  She remembered and told him she would sort it out for him.  Well after about 3..or 4 more letters followed each time by a visit to the pub, and each time he was told not to worry it will be cancelled.
The driver then had a different company send him a threatening letter  it was a debt collection company. This time he phoned them directly. But they said they were not interested about the reason. They told the driver to pay or be prepared to go to court.
The driver then went back to landlady and she sent him an Email explaining that he didn't need to worry about it.  She was going to make sure it got wiped..
Now.. from this point the driver believed it was over. As he had it in writing that the pub had cancelled the fine.
But a few weeks later there's been another phone call. It came up on his phone as a scam call so he didn't answer but a message was left by the debt collector demanding he returned their call.   But after the last time he spoke to them. And the way they attempted to bully him, he did not phone them back.
After being assured by the landlady that the whole thing was just a mistake the driver had thrown all the paperwork away....   but   Can this actually go further. Should the driver be replying to these threatening phone calls ...

Sorry for delayed reply to my question regarding the Pcn. I did not realise anyone had answered it. Unfortunately the original document regarding the fine was not kept. After the owners of the carpark said don't worry it will be cancelled at every meeting with them. however  here is the email that was sent to the director of the company that owns the pub car park

   So after I came over to the Crown on Sunday afternoon and spoke to xxxxx regarding the parking fine I received when trying to deliver an Amazon package during the recent floods. Xxxxx(landlady) said she was due to meet the parking company on Thursday where she would "sort the ticket out".
Can you advise if this has happened.

I am concerned about the debt collectors letter. I am uneasy about just ignoring them as xxxxx(landlady) suggested I do on Sunday. 

 I appreciate your help in this matter
And a reply to just confirm this is now concluded would be very welcomed

As per our conversation all the details have been give to the company and this will be cancelled. Once I have heard back from  them I will contact you straight away!

I should add this has gone further. it is going to court.
After having further conversations with the landlady they have completely fallen out with the parking company. They said that there are many people being threatened with court including members of their own staff and indeed the directors boyfriend who although his car registration is on the "allowed to park list" he has received over 100 fines.
 because of this and their own legal problems the last meeting with them changed. Instead of being helpful and stating  had done nothing was wrong,  they changed their tract to say the driver was on his own and should of paid.
That is really unhelpfull as all the meetings before (at least 6) the pub said do not pay. There's I'd no need. They would make sure it was cancelled...At that time the fine was £60 now its £250.
