ParkingEye - Barnet hospital
« on: »
Went to Barnet hospital and after several times in and out of the car park we decided to just wait inside the car park for a car to come out. On the way out, the machine told me a value but because I wasn't sure if it was counting the very first time I got in, I changed the entry time to when we finally ended up parking the car and paid.

Next week get a letter with a fine. I've appealed with the above justification and sent as supporting doc, the park payment from my bank statement and the message I sent my wife with the time I parked the car.

Got the letter back saying that my appeal was not succesful so would have to either pay with a discount "as a gesture of good will" or appeal to POPLA.

Was referred to this forum from Google search as a place to understand if it's worth an appeal.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I don't think I have access to the appeal anymore, I went to their site and there's no access to the appeal itself but here's the generated chatGPT notes I've pasted in (already realized that I might've identified myself as the driver)

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to appeal the above Parking Charge Notice issued on XX/XX/XX at Barnet Hospital – Patient & Visitors B.

On the day in question, I entered and exited the car park several times due to a lack of available spaces. On my final entry, I waited for a bay to become free and was not parked in a bay during that time. As I am new to the area and unfamiliar with this particular car park system, I was unsure how previous entries and exits would be recorded.

When proceeding to make payment, I was unsure whether the entry time suggested by the system reflected my earlier movements or my final entry. As I only began occupying a parking bay once a space became available, I corrected the entry time to the time I actually parked and paid for the full duration of my stay from that point.

Payment was made for the parking period, which can be verified through your payment system records. I have attached a screenshot from my bank app showing the parking charge, as well as a screenshot of a message sent at the time I secured a parking bay, which shows the corresponding time and supports the timeline provided above.

There was no intention to avoid payment, and I respectfully request that you review the ANPR and payment records and cancel this charge.

Edited the initial post with what I have. Don't think I have access to the actual appeal but got what chatGPT generated from my description...
