Notice of debt recovery DCBL
« on: »
Hi I'm completely new to this forum so I hope I'm posting this in the right place.
I've just received a Notice of Debt Recovery from DCBL (Direct Collection Bailiffs Ltd) for £730 for 5 unpaid parking charges to Euro Car Parks Ltd. When I received the first of the five, I ignored it after reading information on Martin Lewis's website. These are all for the same car park which is on a retail park. I have numerous medical conditions which make shopping even more difficult. These include severe fatigue and sciatica, so I have to go slowly when shopping. I often go back to sit in my car for a while, to rest and check my blood sugars (I have type 1 diabetes). I also have Pancreatitis and sometimes have to find a toilet pretty quickly.  All this wastes time but I don't have any options. I have bad days when I can't get out at all and slightly better days when I try and do as much as I can as I don't know when my next 'slightly better' day will be. This is why I end up spending more time than I should at this particular retail park.
I really don't know what to do. I'm struggling at the moment with health and personal issues and am in a pretty bad place. This letter has come at a horrible time. I've never not paid anything apart from these parking tickets and have no debts apart from my mortgage. I was initially worried about ignoring these tickets but was reassured by the advice I was reading online. I have never replied to any of the letters I received. I wanted to post the current letter on here but I couldn't find a way to do it.
If anyone has any advice I would be so grateful. Thank you so much.

THis explains how to post images:

READ THIS FIRST - Private Parking Charges Forum guide

Obviously you received duff information about ignoring Parking Charge Notices (PCNs). In almost every single case of a PCN issued as a postal Notice to Keeper (NtK) for ECP, they can be very easily dealt with and no one who follows the advice we give here pays a penny to ECP.

However, considering you say you have 5 outstanding PCNs, there is a slightly higher chance that they would try and recover it through the courts. They always try and recover through the courts but for just one or two PCNs, they will always discontinue if the claim is defended. Unfortunately, you have let this build up to 5 PCNs, which means they may be more inclined to try and follow up all the way to an actual hearing.

Every one of those 5 PCNs includes a fake added £70 to the original charge of £100. Even if you were to lose in court, the added fake £70/per PCN is not allowed. So, any claim would be for 5 x £100 plus fixed costs of approx £120.

As for useless debt recovery letters, you can safely ignore them. Debt collectors are powerless to do anything except to try and intimidate the low-hanging fruit on the gullible tree to pay up out of ignorance and fear.

Nothing you can do for now except to ignore the debt recovery letters. Come back when you receive an actual Letter of Claim (LoC) from a solicitor.

Thank you so much. Will the letter of claim come from Euro car parks/their solicitors?
I really appreciate your reply. I could cry with relief that I've had some advice about this.

The letter of claim will likely come from DCB Legal, who are a different company from DCBL. The latter are debt collectors and can be ignored. The former are fairly useless bulk litigators who should not be ignored but, with advice from this forum, will bluff and waffle and come to nothing.
