Dog attack in my garden.
« on: July 15, 2024, 07:31:09 pm »
A day or two back I was out in my front garden doing a bit of digging with my trusty fork.

Now, the next door neighbour has 3 pet dogs all small terriers. They are yappy things barking agressively when let out in the enclosed rear garden.

They managed to escape through the front door and headed straight for me. Our front gardens are open plan.

This is the first time the dogs have been loose at the front when I have also been at the front in the year or so they have been there.

I am used to dogs so I just stood still while they headed for me barking, teeth bared in attack mode.

What to do to defend myself while holding my digging fork having four sharpish tines?

My instant decision was that if they applied their teeth to my flesh I would apply the sharpish tines to their flesh with some vigour.

I have a reasonable knowledge of what not to do when out on the highway in my vehicle but where would I stand stabbing these attackers with my fork?

Panic was setting in and the application of my fork could easily result in a very large vets bill.

As it was the adult rushed out and called the dogs off.

So my question is, what should I do when it happens next time and there is no one handy to save me?
