There's probably something in the Dover bylaws that treats th harbour roads the same as public roads for certain ofences.
The byelaws go back to 1606 with subsequent amendments. An interesting read. Surprising how many roads along the harbour front are within the boundary.
Normal traffic laws apply to vehicles within the port.
I went with my father who was delivering an SS Jaguar saloon to Dover in 1949 and watched it being loaded onto the ferry by wheel straps!!!!!!!!!!

Watching this series of Port of Dover is tending to show, disappointingly, their police officers' actions as rather amateurish as the port is very well run otherwise. Surprising to learn that the seafront and promenade are within the harbour property.
However,the truck in question was clamped as the driver had to leave it to make arrangements for payment of the £200 deposit required. This is normal police and DVSA practice with foreign goods vehicles if the driver cannot pay immediately or is required to appear in court..

So, although the weight limit is not an arbitrary figure, most small van drivers have no idea of their vehicle's GVW .

Why impose a vehicle weight of 2 tonnes for commercial vehicles as there are many cars that have a GVW in excess of 2 tonnes and are larger than small vans. It can't be for environmental reasons as 2t GVW is the weight limit at which car speed limits apply to commercial vehicles.
Environmental weight restrictions for vehicles of less than 7.5 tonnes are usually applied for structural reasons on roads that have weak structures such as bridges so, is there an environmental application to London's tunnels?.

- Driver attention is already maxed out. Between the overhead gantry, height panels, boom barriers, speed limit signs, average speed camera warnings, and diverging lanes, it becomes impossible to spot and interpret the weight restriction in time to take action.
- The actual tunnel entrance is well beyond the initial signage and barrier. The “restrictions ahead” board appears at the narrowing. But once you’ve passed the barrier system, you’re fully committed, with no physical or legal way to turn around.
Should the restriction be seen at the last moment there is an escape route for restricted vehicles clearly signed

Yes, it's >5t 7pm - 7am to stop fridge units running at night. There are several supermarket distribution centres nearby.

I'm a EU driver living in London and driving since 2020
I drove too fast 25mph and camera caught me, it was not unsafe but caught me.
I did one course in 2023 and now recently it happened twice
As my driving license is foreign I cannot check points lost via DVLA
How can I check the "ghost driving account" I've seen in the internet they take notes of offences
I need the car for my business so I need to drive
I will attend one online course in June but have a second letter for the second offence and Im scared
how can I check how many points I have left ?

DVLA hold the ghost licence details if you have been awarded points. You can't use the on line licence check for a foreign licence so you need to contact DVLA.

Do you have a receipt for payment?
Did you use the right car registration for payment?
If not, is it really worth £5 arguing? How much is your time and effort worth?
The car park used electronic plate registration. So on exit before barriers open i had to pay 20 pounds on my card. WHy have they discounted so bad. Feels like they want to just reap people off cos they know no one will be willing to fight it
The £20 to exit suggests that you were in a barrier controlled car park. The £100 reduced to £5 suggests you also went through the drive through drop off area which has no physical barriers.

I only received the second letter yesterday and the letter is dated 23/4/25. I also cant see anywhere where I'm able to view the pictures online is this normal.

I wonder if someone could tell me if this is worth an appeal?
Husband thought this road in Kempston was a 40 and got a ticket for doing 35.
The only speed sign is a small repeater on the opposite side of the road in the pic, which appears slightly twisted and it was after the speed camera

He appears to have missed these 30 signs https://tinyurl.com/2acd2mco. That length of road has average speed cameras and crosses the frontage of Beds Police HQ!
The '30 repeater' is actually a camera reminder sign not a repeater
