The driver received this yesterday through the post (22nd October) from UKPC for 'not parked correctly within the markings of the bay or space' at the Metrocentre in Gateshead. The 'Parking Charge Date' is 10th October and the letter is dated 18th October. This is a hire van.

The driver entered the car park about 6pm ish and left about 8:30pm ish and they parked like this because the van would not fit in any of the bays and because it's a hire van did not want to get it damaged with other people banging it with their doors etc so tried to find a space well away from the entrance and away from anyone, however, clearly in some of the photo's other cars ended up parking at that end as well.

The driver went into the Metrocentre to do some shopping and get some food.

Any help from you guys is appreciated, even if it isn't what the driver wants to hear. Thanks

Hi everyone. The girlfriend parked with a residents scratch card on the dashboard scratching off the correct date (25th) and with the 24th also partly scratched. The contravention given is 'Parked in a disc parking place without clearly displaying a valid disc' and it is Code 35.

This is the GSV link:

Do we have a way of fighting this one please?

Appear have parked in a private carpark on what appears to be the 23rd October (going by the Parking Charge Date on the Debt Recovery Plus letter). She thinks she was there for less than 30 minutes.

The first letter she received from Debt Recovery Plus is dated 27th November. She messaged them on their online portal on the 4th December and has received no reply. She then got a second letter from them dated 18th December. She then called them on the 20th December and was on hold for 29 minutes before giving up. She called again on 27th December and after 11 minutes it said she could leave her details in order to save her place in the queue and they will call her back. They didn’t and still haven’t called her back.

Now, am I right in thinking £170 seems excessive to be charged and isn’t there supposed to be a cheaper option if paid in a certain amount of time?

I’ve attached the 1st letter front and back, 2nd letter front and back and the pre-legal action letter that came with the second letter front and back. The back of that one is blank. I’ve also attached the GSV link for the car park.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Good afternoon.

So, I’ve received a PCN from North Yorkshire Council that I think possibly may not be enforceable. The place where I parked has a row of disabled spaces and immediately after the last one they turn into spaces for everyone. Now, I was late getting to the sports centre to play football and was in a rush, I drove down past the row of disabled spaces and then parked in a space I thought was past the disabled spaces. It was dark and in my rush it turns out that I hadn’t quite cleared the disabled spaces and ended up parking in one, which I didn’t realise until I came back out with a PCN on my windscreen. I have been around the whole car park and there are no signs whatsoever to signal that this is a council car park or to say PCN’s may be issued.

So I appealed the PCN on the basis that there are no signs. North Yorkshire Council have rejected the appeal and they also state that there is an ‘off street parking order’ on the carpark and also they did not mention the lack of signs in the rejection. I have tried to research this parking order and all I can find is an order from 2012 before the sports centre/football ground was even there, all it shows is the old coach/car park that is no longer there. Also, I think it’s interesting that the car park is not even on the North Yorkshire Council car park directory.

So, my next options appear to be to either pay the fine or take it to adjudication so my question is, is it worth taking to the adjudicator or are North Yorkshire Council correct in enforcing the PCN and therefore I should just pay the reduced amount while I can?

Thank you for everyones time.
