Hi,

Like many people on here, I parked in Hillingdon next to a sign saying I could park on the pavement and did not look at the other side of the sign to see that you could not park the side that my front wheels were on.  There were no markings on the road  There was space behind me and I would have reversed 2 feet if the signs had been clearer.  In my opinion they should have one sign facing the road showing that parking was allowed one side of the sign, but not the other side, you should not have to che

Parked 29/12/25
Appealed 11/1/26
Letter denying appeal 5/2/26
Notice to owner 6/3/26, received 11/3/26

I saw that @cp8759 managed to get an identical fine cancelled

I am not sure how to upload photos, but I have photos of the car showing that from the driver's position it looked like I was supposed to park on the pavement.

Is it OK that the notice to owner does not say when the notice was deemed to be served, but says it has to be paid within 28 days of service?  It was posted Friday 5th March, received Wednesday 11th March.  I can't see anything on the letter clarifying what the actual date for replying is.

Thanks

Tania

I have exactly the same situation.  Parked next to a sign saying you can park on the pavement, didn't see the other side of the sign.  I would have just parked a foot closer to the corner if I had, but I have always tried to avoid parking too close to corners.  There were no markings on the ground.

I appealed and have the same letter this case refers to - still says you have 14 days from the date of the letter being served to pay £70 or 28 days from the date of "our Notice" to pay £140.

Can you please clarify why the appeal was successful for the OP?  Maybe @cp8759?

Thanks!
