Hi,

I received a PCN for parking in a permit zone during an event day. It was a Saturday which usually has no restrictions unless its an event day.

The sign on the route I took to enter the zone, had not been updated with that day listed as an event day so I was unaware of the parking restrictions.

My phone had no battery so I could not check the website or call the phoneline so had to rely on the sign.

I challenged the PCN on the grounds that the contravention did not occur and sent them a map of the route I took and a later time stamped photo of the sign at the entrance to the parking zone which still didn't show the date of the event day listed.

They have rejected the challenge and sent me a photo of another sign with the date listed but this isn't on the route I took so I didn't see it. I only saw the sign on the route I took which didn't have the correct date listed.

Is it worth challenging again or paying the reduced penalty while it is still possible? In my opinion the council is at fault here for not having the correct signage.

I have added the PCN, my appeal and the council response to the link below.
