Free Traffic Legal Advice

Received a Charge Certificate from Ealing Council today. We haven't received any prior letters. What can I do? Ideally need to get it to the first stage to pay the lower fee.

The google map link taken from September 2024 doesn't show any signage currently, but the pictures of evidence do show signage.

I didn't email them - I called them.

But I have phoned ZZPS and Saba - stating to both of them that I didn't receive the first letter so how can we get to the first stage. They said it is too late. I asked them that isn't a reminder/chaser usually sent out as well before going to a debt agency to recover monies. They decided to state the timelines of the offence and letters going out instead of answering my question.

I also noted the incident to Saba - stating that it was a disabled bay that the car was parked in with the badge being displayed. We just didn't register it against the bay number which is our mistake. The disabled badge is new to my Mum so we are getting used to how it is used everywhere and I made a mistake.

Both companies said they will require the full £170 to be paid but they can do it in instalments if required.

The car is on lease so I didn't get the initial letter anyway. The lease company told Saba our details and Saba said they have sent the first letter to me. I didn't receive this first letter.

The second letter (chaser) was never sent by Saba and they referred it to a debt agency ZZPS to recover monies. They have added £70 charge on top of £100 fine. Letter attached.

Also to explain how the ticket happened, I parked the car for my Mum using her Disabled Badge in a disabled bay. Usually I am good at reading signs but it seems not now. I was meant to register the car reg plate in the machine against the disabled bay number. Which I didn't do.

Looking to see if anyone has any advice on this to help. Honest mistake but being punished for it. And didn't receive our first letter but the company makes it seem that it is our fault still.
