Speeding and other criminal offences / Speeding NIP - wrong location
« on: April 20, 2026, 10:04:04 pm »
Hi All,

firstly thanks for clicking and taking time to look at this. I am trying to help my mum who is freaking out as she got a speeding ticket. Unfortunately i do not have the document with me to post, but...

She was captured by a traffic officer with a mobile speed gun and received a NIP in the post. I have checked the calibration and everything on the ticket looks fine, but there is one thing i am questioning.

The location reads 'Dalkeith Grove between junctions of Merrion Avenue and Pangbourne Drive HA7'

I have a link here https://maps.app.goo.gl/QG5hisoWEQ2qp8jX9

my two questions/issues are:

1) The location being between the Merrion Avenue and Pangbourne Drive should be slightly more specific as there is another junction in between with Dovercourt Gardens.

2) There is no junction of Merrion Avenue on Dalkeith Grove as that junction, Dalkeith Grove actually become Du cros Drive, so the address is technically incorrect.

Are the above issues above enough to get the ticket quashed?

Many Thanks

Hello, I'd really appreciate your thoughts on this rather peculiar situation. As you can see, I've parked on the driveway of a mortuary, which is closed on Sundays, in fact, this entrance has been closed for sometime (Otherwise would not park there). The car is parked just behind the yellow line, on what appears to be a vehicle crossing. I assumed this was private land, owned and operated by the council, but not actually part of the public highway. Seeing as there were no 'Private Parking' or council parking signs, I thought I was safe enough. If I'm mistaken, I'll pay the fine, but I honestly believe I'm in the clear. What do you reckon? Also, whilst I'm parked on a grass verge, it's within the mortuary's grounds and doesn't seem to be maintained. I've also noticed the Civil Enforcement Officer (CEO) hasn't signed the Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) but not sure that makes a difference?.
Thanking you in advance for any help
