Thanks

The width restriction signs have been replaced with no motor vehicles.

Suspect I have no option to pay - but I’d still like them to improve the signage

Hello again

Went back and took some more photos today.

Full PCN - all four pages : https://share.icloud.com/photos/01cNKgcYx0-a_dFL0FT_wUC5Q
Two photos as you approach the restriction : https://share.icloud.com/photos/0e3TFSuOyaLggVepMhoWsoorQ
Two warning signs on Longhurst Road as you approach the right hand turn - https://share.icloud.com/photos/075zaKI16PNUu7HtVBtbGclgg
3 photos showing the approach to the junction - turning off Longhurst Road onto Leahurst Road - https://share.icloud.com/photos/098TE5exFz5_qLhUn1ZiK9ucQ
1 photo showing from the opposite direction - https://share.icloud.com/photos/0790cNhbFGomPjG52X7JMaYlA
Oddly - it seems to be perfectly legal to turn off Leahurst East bound onto Ennersdale Road - meaning the restricted part of the road is about 20m long.  This photo is taken from Leahurst facing East towards where I got the PCN - https://share.icloud.com/photos/0596SL4ZfgGG2UWnBreTlJ6hA

A quick map showing the area and some notes https://share.icloud.com/photos/0cckFFqLTSHOi0K9SLG1nL4cA

Again - I was driving at night and I am sure these signs are not illuminated and are too high to reflect off the headlights.

I guess I don't have grounds for an appeal - but I would like Lewisham to improve the signage here.  It really is not clear.

Thanks for your advice in advance.

Andrew

Thanks.

Will get some photos going down Longhurst Road and post tomorrow.

I’ve only redacted my address. PCN and registration is clear on the photo I provided.

Thanks again
Andrew

Hello

I received my second PCN for this spot on Friday. I paid the first one just thinking I missed the sign.

Both times; we turned off Longhurst Road (turning right onto Leahurst) at night (so it was dark).

I was convinced it was a mistake so walked back to the area and took the attached photos. Indeed the signs are there but as mentioned by others, I don't feel they are adequate.

- They are at a point of no return.  There is no option to turn around legally.
- I think everything except emergency vehicles and bicycles are restricted - why not say "Emergency vehicles only" instead?
- They are a few meters after the junction I turned right out of.  Of course my attention is more on making that turn safely - not necessarily looking for restriction signs
- The signs are high up, look small to me - and are unlit.  Too high for car headlamps to reflect off.
- There are no road markings which would help make it clear it is restricted.
- There doesn't seem to be an obvious reason why traffic is not permitted (especially as cars are passing through on the opposite side of the road.
- There was no warning sign (I am pretty sure - didn't see it if there was)
- I think the signs would be more obvious if they were red "No Entry" signs (except cycles etc)
- Not sure why there isn't a "No right turn" at the junction coming out of Longhurst Road - that would make it much clearer.
- There are other signs in the area which restrict traffic only at certain times.  They are much bigger and much more obvious.

I am sure there is a good reason why traffic is restricted (at least hope there is) so it is important traffic doesn't pass through.  But it is not obvious, and the signs aren't doing their job.

I will probably just pay it but I do think they should make the signs clearer.

Thoughts welcome.  I am thinking of popping back at night to see how clear the signs are and if there are any warning signs.

Will do!

Interested to hear there have been recent improvements to the signs there. I can’t imagine what!

Hello

I received my second PCN for this spot in six months today. I paid the first one just thinking I missed the sign.

But I drove the same route a few days ago and genuinely did not see the sign so this thread is interesting.

Both times; we turned off Longhurst Road (turning right onto Leahurst).

I was convinced it was a mistake so walked to the area today and took the attached photos. Indeed the signs are there but as this thread mentions, they are at a point of no return. I also find them small and also noticed they are not lit (I drove through at 10pm in December)

The signs are approx 20m after the junction I turned right out of and I am sure I did not see any warning signs on Longhurst.

I will probably just pay it but I do think they should make the signs clearer. As I say - this is the second time and neither time have I seen the signs. There are others nearby that are restricted only during school times which are much clearer.

Andrew
