We have discussed the drive in detail but just can't work out which one of us it would have been.  We stopped for MacDonalds at a service station about an hour afterwards but we can't remember which one of us was driving there vs afterwards.  Son can't remember either :-/

Got letter re 57mph on M1 (southbound J15-J14) under a 50mph variable gantry.
Need to provide name of driver.

My husband and I were collecting our son from university that day, and we took turns driving.
We genuinely can't remember who was driving at that moment - and the supplied photos don't show faces.
What should we do???

Non-motoring legal advice / Re: Council Tax Summons - NO REMINDER...
« on: June 10, 2025, 04:47:19 pm »
Definitely no email and yes they do have my email because in previous years that HAVE emailed me to remind me

Perhaps this year they posted a reminder instead of emailing (giving them the benefit of the doubt) but I did not receive anything.

So it was a complete surprise when I got a summons straight after the bill, with no reminder.

Are you sure they have to give either a reminder / a final notice, because ChatGPT seems to think they don't have to :-(

Non-motoring legal advice / Council Tax Summons - NO REMINDER...
« on: June 07, 2025, 04:18:15 pm »
I completely forgot to pay our council tax (Bromley Council) & have just received a SUMMONS!!!
I have of course paid the council tax immediately.
But my question is about the 'summons/court costs' (£101.50) - which they say is now due on top of the council tax.
My question is this: it looks like they did not send any reminder.  (See below)  Are they obligated to do so?

*   *   *
The correspondence history on my Bromley Council account suggests that they did send a reminder, however I have done a forensic search and there was no reminder email.  Nor did I receive any reminder by post.  As you can see, in previous years they did send reminders…
So this year all I got was the bill on March and then BAM a summons in June

Council Tax 2023-2024
Paperless bill – 14th March 2023 (I received email 16/03/23)
First reminder – 20th June 2023 (I received email on 23/06/23)
Final notice – 12th July 2023 (according to council log but no email received)
Paid in full – 20/07/23

Council Tax 2024-2025
Paperless bill – 11th March 2024 (I received email on 11/03/24)
First reminder – 18th April 2024 (I received email on 24/04/24)
Paid in full – 26/04/24

Council Tax 2025-2026
Paperless bill – 10th March 2025 (I received email on 11/03/25)
“First reminder – 15th April  2025” (according to council’s correspondence history, however no record of this by email or by post!)
Summons – 5th June 2025 (council tax was due on 05/06/25, so summons was generated immediately, & I received in post on 7th)
Paid in full – 07/06/25

Thank you.

So we now need to prepare something... re the low signpost - does anyone know what legislation can we refer to please???

6
Just noticed they got the car colour wrong - 'grey' instead of beige

7
Shopping (nothing pre-ordered).  He's 83.  Nothing diagnosed but he does walk slowly so technically has some mobility issues - although that is tenuous, I mean he can walk, & doesn't use a walking stick

8
Is there any legislation, any guidelines (or better still stipulations) that have been thwarted???

9
Watermelons, turnips, I bet they get all sorts of 'loading' stories!  Unfortunately not too many turnips to carry in this scenario.

here as it's a timed restriction the sign is needed and should be better sited but the road markings are sufficient to put a driver on notice

>> what could we say re this

No there is no background that would help really.  He told the attendant that he was loading (has the receipt for a few turnips!) but the attendant said he had already started so couldn't cancel it.

How far can we go with the low sign?

And is there anything else?

Thank you

My father got a PCN for being briefly in a loading bay.

Is there anything for this location - signage compliance, underlying traffic orders or some such???

What's a PAPL?  I am happy to help you if I can - although I am not sure mine is a stong enough case for misinformation, disinformation & threats?
