Thanks for your replies. Please see links for both the fine letter and payment receipt (both translated to English with any identifying info redacted).

Having looked over the documentds I think I can see the issue, somehow the leading number they gave me for the payment notice number in the letter was missed off while making the payment (looking at the receipt ....I redacted this however). Given this would have been a number short I am surprised this was accepted but it is the only reason I can think of as to why they think I still owe them.

Regarding the UK DCA, yes looking at their letter again it very much reads like a TV license letter, very demanding language but extremely light on information. I will ignore the letter. However I am trying to make contact with Milan City authorities to get my case settled. I don't dispute the offence. However, given that I have already emailed them in January to the email address they provided and got no response I'm not very hopeful.

As title. I have recieved a letter from a debt collection agency working on behalf of their client:the city of Milan for a speeding fine I incurred last summer driving a rental. I was emailed the fine by the rental company. Translating it, it said if payment was made from the 6th to the sixiteth day after notification (not sure what they mean by that) then a reduced fine was payable. And it gave details on how to pay. I made payment on day 60 after the date of the offence through their online system and was emailed a receipt as proof of payment. Then, about 6 months later I recieved a postal letter of the fine the my home in the UK, but the amount is now higher. I emailed them to say I that I have already paid the fine and provided as attachment my original fine letter and receipt. But I heard no reply. Now I get this debt Collection Letter. Does anyone have any experience with this? What should I do? Thanks. (in England)
