I'e seen instances on the northern bit of the M25 where there' been a red X over a carriageway around J25, then blank gantries all the way to the end of the M25. Common sense has to prevail sometimes.

If there is a red X over a carriageway followed by blank gantries then any vehicles joining the motorway will be unaware of the previous X so the blank gantries must mean that all carriageways can be used.

I don't have that on my policy, but it does cover me for driving a courtesy car should mine be in for repair.

What a lot of people are falling foul of these days is use for delivering food or parcels. Mine specifically excludes such use.

I recall a couple of years ago I took the car to a different garage for servicing as they were supposed to be Jaguar specialists (but that's another story). They said that I could have a courtesy car but I would need to sort out insurance. I was pleased to find that even though I wasn't insured to drive other cars the policy stated that I was specifically insured for a courtesy car when my car was in for service or repairs.

I saw a sign warning of a 50mph speed limit enforced by average speed cameras and started decelerating for that. At that point, my speedo was an indicated 59mph (I think), which showed on Waze as being 57mph (GPS speed). I didn't brake to decelerate, I just took my foot off the accelerator and let it slow down that way. I think I was down to an indicated 52mph by the time the 'national speed limit' signs appeared. This stretch of average speed cameras was far shorter than I expected, which is why I didn't brake to slow it down further.

If your actual speed was 57mph on hitting the commencement of the 50mph average speed limit as you were decelerating & didn't touch the throttle again then your average speed will have been below 57mph. You won't get a NIP unless your average speed was 57mph or higher as per the usual convention of only charging if your speed was (speed limit + 10% + 2mph).

The reason you could not obtain a new Greek licence unless you handed over your GB one is that, for driving licence purposes, nothing has changed since Brexit. You can only hold one licence if it is issued by any of the 28 nations (27 EU plus GB). For the same reason you would no have been granted a GB licence if you said you held a Greek one.

There never was any necessity to exchange a UK licence for an EU licence as a UK licence was of course a perfectly valid EU driving licence. Neither the Withdrawal Agreement nor the Trade and Cooperation Agreement make any mention of driving licences. The previous automatic exchange of a UK licence for an EU licence or vice versa is now no longer possible.

I personally know the situation in France where if a Brit now takes up residence then provided their UK driving licence was issued before 31st January 2020 they do not need to exchange it for a French licence until it expires. However if they passed their test after 31st January 2020 then you only have 12 months after they become resident to exchange their UK licence for a French licence. If they miss that window then they cannot exchange & must pass a French driving test to legally drive in which case they will quite legally hold both a valid UK & a French driving licence.

Every EU state now has different rules for licence exchange as all post-Brexit arrangements for driving licences have had to be agreed on a bilateral basis.

Both APCOA and SABA are BPA members and offer a secondary "independent" appeals service through POPLA should the initial appeal to the operator be rejected. However, I do not believe that POPLA have the authority to adjudicate on PNs which are (if they were real ones) criminal matters. As these fake PNs are nothing more than "offered contracts" (under civil law), there is no obligation on anyone to accept an offered contract under any circumstances.

It's not automatic. The examiner asks whether you want that, and if so you must give him your provisional.

Ah! I hadn't realised the actual procedure & have just had my wife confirm that she had the option of keeping her provisional licence. I imagine that the vast majority must opt to have their full licence posted on to them.

Never mind whether he was fiddling with the phone or not it would have been obvious to anyone viewing an image or video that he was listening on headphones. How could he be so stupid as to think that it would OK?
