Thanks for your input.

The cones were in the top bay next to the junction with Kirkgate from which I entered.  There is then a gap for the entrance to the park on the left and then the second parking bay area along the rest of the street.

As you have stated had another parking sign near the start which can be seen in Google street view but which I didn't notice at the time.

There were other cars and maybe vans parked in the bays down along the street which may have blocked visibility of that sign,  there were also pedestrians crossing the road around the area so I may have been focussing more attention on them.

I guess I could have done more to check the signs, but it's just irritating really when I park there quite a lot and it's on quite a steep hill so I don't like needlessly walking up and down it (I'm not in the best of shape).

I received a PCN on 4th Aug for parking in a suspended bay on Crowgill Road, Shipley. 

I think this is unfair as the parking suspension sign shown in the council's photo evidence was obscured by overgrown vegetation by it. 

The sign was hidden from all points along the route down the street which I drove, including where I parked. The sign only becomes visible after drawing level with it (past where I parked) and further on when  looking back up the street (the vantagepoint chosen in the only photo in the council's evidence showing both my car and the sign.)

I did not see the sign leaving the car as I did not walk down past it, I exited the street through a side junction.

At the top of the street (the street is on a hill) I noticed something was happening as the top few spaces were coned off, so I was paying more attention than usual.  I park on the street  around once a week or two and am aware of the two hour limit in the spaces marked out along the street. There were cars parked further down and I didn't see any signs not usually there so I thought it ok to park.

Was the councils signage adequate?

I returned the next day to take some photos (shown here) after I discovered the PCN on my windscreen but the parking suspension signs had been removed as they were only temporary for one day.  The normal two hour limit sign over which the suspension notice was attached is mostly hidden on the approach so the suspension notice must similarly have been hidden.
