If you'd turned left into the restriction, I could see a case, but the sign was head-on to you; If it had been the traditional 'No Entry' sign, would you have passed it ? This makes it much harder to argue at adjudication, (forget the council, they refuse everything even if valid). I can't help thinking that satnavs give a sense of false security, because they direct you down a street based on the data they hold, and unfortunately they are almost never up-to-date, even if an update is done yesterday, it relies on the base date, but users just obey the command and are not so alert to signs for restrictions.  In addition, we don't know how they handle timed restrictions and also, like here, exemptions for permit holders.

Hi all,

Came back from the holidays to this wonderful notice.

Only have a handful of days if I want to be able to pay the reduced penalty.

Just trying to figure out if I've got a good chance at challenging this or not.

Where I failed: when I studied for my driving tests I never thought a single (I think) 52M sign would be sitting on a main road without warning, road markings, gates etc. when I passed this one I think I may have seen it at the last minute and vaguely recall it leaving me hesitant, but I wasn't sure what it was and I was following the satnav. Yes, this was a new area for me.

What I'd like to argue: I had a car behind me so I couldn't slam the breaks, OR that I didn't see it, as it was rainy, and I don't recall any other signs or warnings, it's on a main road and more warnings should've been placed.

If it helps at all I think the satnav sent me through here because Greenwich had closed some roads.

I could go back and scout the area if there are more signs or not because honestly I can't recall.
