1. The box: is not compliant as it extends beyond two roads. (See Kingston Road threads)
2. The PCN: see my first link in my profile.

That is an oversized yellow box junction, much bigger than needed. Definitely is not due to older rules pre-2016 (requiring touching kerbs) as up to 2017 there was just a keep clear white marking. On GSV I can see a YBJ appeared later in April 2018.

So in an appeal what do you think is worth mentioning?
-
I would say if the box wasn't so big the OP woukd have been clear, or VERY nearly clear
-
Looks entirely self-inflicted I'm afraid. You actually first stopped at the edge of the box and if you wanted you could easily have gone to the middle lane or stayed put.

Yeah very large. You can access the video on Barnets website using the reg plate and the PCN number. You can clearly see the car in front of my red one coming in from an overtake over the box. I will admit I hesitated slightly before entering the box. But traffic was high and I was more frightened stopping quickly would cause an issue.
-
I agree the box is a it big, however the video is required to see what happened just before you entered the box.

Looking at the photo on the PCN, the YBJ extends beyond the junction, and you car is stopped with part of it in that extended part. Appeals have been won at London Tribunal on this issue. A YBJ can be installed "at the junction of two or more roads". The box here is too long, basically. Needless to say, Barnet won't accept any reps on this, all they want is your money, so you'd have to risk the full PCN penalty at London Tribunals with a fairly good chance of a win, but there is no guarantee of it.

Hi,
I received a PCN for stopping in a yellow box. As I was about to enter the yellow box a car overtook me from the middle lane into my lane on the left. This was before I entered the box but it all happened quite fast and didn’t really have time to react + plus I’m not a very experienced driver and Londons roads are quite complex. So I kept going as there roughly was enough room for me. I get over the car that did the overtake wouldn’t move fully forward so the back end of my car was in the yellow box. The majority of my car was out of the box.(not blocking the junction) too. If there’s anymore detail wanted don’t hesitate to reach out. Thank you in advance.
