Title: Re: Penalty Charge Notice 53J - Entering a pedestrian zone (Croydon Council)
Post by: jpn101010@gmail.com on October 24, 2025, 01:15:00 pm
Hi everyone,
I've received a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) from Croydon Council for contravention code 53J - Failing to comply with a restriction on vehicles entering a pedestrian zone. It says the alleged contravention was detected by camera CR999 on Spurgeon Rd, SE19 (by Beulah Hill) at 09:10:36 on 07/10/2025, and is supported by recorded footage. The fine is £160, reduced to £80 if paid within 14 days. Before I pay, I`d like to know if there's any legitimate way to challenge or appeal this notice, especially if the signage or camera enforcement might not be fully compliant. Any advice or experiences with similar Croydon PCNs would be greatly appreciated!

You have yet to post the PCN, a requirement for all threads here, so please do so.

Here are the signs you passed: -

and advance sign for those turning left: -

and another for those turning right

So the signage seems adequate to me. Do you know what the "Flying Motorbike" sign means ?

Well, of course you can appeal it, it is your legal right, and you can take them all the way to London Tribunals if you want to. The downside of going all the way, is that you lose the discount option at London Tribunals.

However, you've told us very little of any use of advising you, so please read this and update your thread accordingly: -
