Title: How to complete Single Justice Procedure Notice
Post by: dobby on September 03, 2025, 09:32:02 am
Hello.

I have a Single Justice Procedure Notice form for two offences.

    - Speeding (36 in 30)

    - Sec 172 Failure to Provide Driver Details

I'm guilty of the speeding, but but because I hadn't updated my logbook, I didn't receive the letters until I recently updated my logbook. Presumably once I did that, the police were able to issue the charges.

On the provided information it states that if I plead guilty to the driving offence then the Sec 172 offence will be withdrawn.

But it also says that pleading 'not guilty' can be a costly mistake.

My question

I can either plead guilty or not guilty to the offences, I intend to plead guilty to the speeding offence but how do I plead for the Sec 172 so that it is withdrawn inline with their guidance?

Are they expecting me to plead not guilty to that offence?

Here is the exact wording on the provided info sheet.

If you were the driver at the time of the offence, then if you write to the court admitting being the driver and admit committing the offence, the court will deal with that offence and where possibe sentence you. Again penalty points will be imposed as detailed overleaf. You will receive credit for a timely guilty plea of a third reduction in the due to be imposed. The Sec 172 Fail Provide Driver Details offence will be withdrawn.

Thank you.
