Thanks so much for trying to help.
I'm gonna suck it up and pay. £80 is very steep, when did it become so expensive :-\
In regards to intimidation, I'm sure you didn't intend to be but I must say that I was very apprehensive to post on this forum initially as people seem to be quite curt and impatient with their responses.

It's a petty PCN but they correct about the verge.
I can only think to put them to the test that it's not private land but the traffic order map indicates it's just inside their jurisdiction.

Hi all, I finally received a response to my informal appeal (see attached images).
The council maintains that the vehicle could be an obstruction to pedestrians and also damages the grass.
Is there anything else that can be done to wiggle out of this?

The traffic order map appears to show the council's jurisdiction in St Peter's Close extends to include that bit of verge but no further. so I think you'll have to accept they are entitled to enforce there and they will be probably say that as they maintain kerbs/verges even though this is a minor bit they can be damaged by vehicles.
But well worth a challenge on expectation and triviality.

@stamfordman I think the OP just wants some helpful comments. If they wanted criticism they probably would have said so in their post. Let's try and be nice. I know you're big cheese on the forum but why not keep it friendly so newbies can come here and get the help they need without being intimated.

It's daft to park on any verge or footway in London but you clearly have a case for what we call legitimate expectation on a small bit of verge that's not a significant public access area.
What is the Google Maps link to the main road by the start of St Peter's Court.

I was parked with two wheels on the grass verge, on St Peters Court. There's no Street View available so I've circled in yellow on Google Earth to show where I was parked.

I don't know if it makes a difference but people have been parking like this for many years without issue until a warden suddenly decided that it's considered illegal parking.
Furthermore, that land doesn't function as a footpath so the cars don't block anyone's way.
Note that there's also a sign to the side saying private land (although it's likely that the grass verge is part of the street, which is council-adopted).
Firstly, is it indeed a problem to park there? Secondly, what is the best way to proceed to cancel this fine.
