@Hippocrates, need your word on this, please.

I'm not so sure we can rule out a challenge on the contravention as the effect of closing the car park has been to create a lay-by beyond the footway, and it's also on a narrow entrance road to the now closed Black Horse (there was a campaign to keep it open).
There is a duty not to create misleading parking.

Well, having now looked at GSV, and at their earlier views, this was obviously built as a very wide entrance to premises, but only about 1/3rd of the length was actually used as an entrance gate. However the main thing is that your car was off-carriageway, so in contravention of the London-wide ban on off-carriageway parking. This has been in effect since the 70s and requires no signs or lines.
So it looks as if the contravention is made out, sorry to have to say it. The entrance to premises is clearly no longer in use, but that doesn't alter anything. There may be a 'technical' appeal, so wait a bit until Hippocrates has viewed this thread, but don't, miss the deadline, (see PCN), for paying or submitting representations, unless you want to take the matter to the adjudicators.

OK, so it was on Oldfield Lane North, but this is a very long street, (over 1.5 kms), so please post a GSV link to the exact location, and tell us where the car was parked

Also attached screenshot of actual place and marked where vehicle was parked

Post the PCN - you've not given us anything useful to look at.
Apologies, find attached PCN

Hi everyone,
Looking for some advice on how to proceed with a PCN that I saw on my widnscreen. The car was parked along other cars but off side of road and footpath.
Do I have any grounds for appeal?
