https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2016/362/schedule/7/made

Part 6, para. 2

School etc entrances (diagram 1027.1)
2.  The road marking provided for at item 10 of the sign table in Part 4, when not placed in conjunction with an upright sign which includes the symbol at item 12 of the sign table in Part 3 of Schedule 4 (prohibiting stopping on entrance markings), indicates a part of the carriageway outside an entrance where vehicles should not stop.

3.  Subject to paragraph 4, the road marking at item 10, when placed in conjunction with an upright sign which includes the symbol at item 12, conveys the prohibition that, subject to the exceptions in paragraph 5, a person driving a vehicle must not cause it to stop on that marking—

(a)if the sign placed in conjunction with the marking does not show a time period, at any time; or

(b)if the sign shows a time period, during that period.

My emphasis.

N.B. For the purposes of some random question, when the TSM says that the law says X, the TSM can be considered to be an appropriate digest.

No.

13.28.1 refers. Without an applicable upright sign the marking is advisory.

Thanks HC, but the Traffic Signs Manual is also advisory!

Can you point to the relevant legislation?

Hi,

Just a quick one - if there is no sign showing times of operation for yellow 'keep clear' zig zag lines outside a school, are they enforceable? To be clear I'm not wanting to park inconsiderately during school times, this is an area that has single yellow lines combined with yellow zig zags and I'd like to park overnight at the weekend, which is permitted by the roadside signage for the single yellows (restrictions 2pm-3pm Mon-Fri).

Here is the place in question https://maps.app.goo.gl/hLTWp8JSCLEmLbim8

Thanks!

AFAIK in the absence of a sign with times of operation, the prohibition applies 24/7.
