Title: Re: Newham, Code 01, parked in restricted street, ward road

The council's photos show the car parked no more than 10m from a pair of CPZ gateway signs which, from the car's orientation, the driver had passed.

The default restriction is Mon-Sat 0800-6.30.

The driver can't really do more than submit a polite challenge asking them to exercise discretion. Do so before 23rd to preserve the discount.

This is the first time I haven’t been able to find any helpful support from this group. Usually, there are plenty of clever and resourceful solutions shared here to deal with the vermin ripoff councils.

Are there any technical aspects or mistakes in the PCN that can be used to contest or challenge ?
Not as far as I can see. Years ago, we'd see lots of errors, and appeals were won on them, but nowadays most councils have upped their game so we see far less. Errors in PCNs appear mostly in those issued outside London, but these too, are rare.

I was there recently at the InHealth next door but used one of the pay bays on Jupp Road.

If you came from the main road you can't really complain about the lack of zone entry signs.

I don't think you have anything other than discretion on picking up medical related info but this is Newham.

Title: Newham, Code 01, parked in restricted street, ward road
Post by: flash2005 on May 10, 2025, 06:30:18 pm
The driver parked the vehicle on a single yellow line on Ward Road for approximately 15 minutes while visiting the nearby NHS Centre to collect an appointment letter. This occurred on a Saturday, and there were no visible signs on the street indicating any specific parking restrictions in effect. Unfortunately, the driver missed the controlled zone sign located at the entrance to the street, as they were running late for another appointment. A penalty notice was issued and placed on the vehicle within five minutes of parking.  Given that the street was completely empty, no obstruction was caused to traffic or pedestrians. The driver feels that the charge is disproportionately high and unfair under the circumstances.  Are there any grounds to contest this ?  Photos not yet available on the Newham website, but will post as soon as available.
