Title: Re: SJP received, no previous communication
Post by: Victoria25 on May 10, 2025, 07:33:25 pm
Hi Richard.
Thank you for such a kind reply.

The NIP is not included in the paperwork I received today.

The offence was 11/11/24.

I’m asked to plead guilty / not guilty online using the reference number.

Edited to add it is Northumbria police force.

Thanks again

Don't panic - there is a well trodden path that will see you get out with only a speeding conviction. You can plead not guilty to both offences, but put in the mitigation box that you are prepared to change your plea to the speeding offence to guilty if they drop the FTF charge. This is often used, and always accepted. You may have to go to court to make this plea with the prosecutor. You can also ask that they consider sentencing you at the fixed penalty level (3 points & £100) since you were not able to take up the option originally.  What date is the alleged speeding offence? Which Police force - some don't send reminders which is a problem when the original doesn't arrive. Is the NIP in the SJPN pack you have received?

Hi, I received an SJP in the post today with 2 offences listed.

1.   Speeding 37mph in a 30mph zone. November 2024
2.   Failure to supply drivers details.

I am truthfully terrified. I have received absolutely no other letters / communication before this. I suffer quite badly from anxiety, and would have addressed this straight away, as I can’t have things hanging over my head. My address is correct on all documents / licence.

I am asked to plead guilty / not guilty to each offence separately. However I don’t know what I should do. I honestly have had no other letters (genuinely). I drive for work, and have never had any other driving offences so this is my first time facing anything like this, and it is causing a huge amount of fear / panic.

My husband does not drive, so there is only myself who drives the car, and the offence took place somewhere I do take the kids.

My V5C is at the correct address. I am aware that I cannot prove I didn’t receive anything previous, I can only say I genuinely did not.

Can anyone offer any advice, thanks so much.
