Well don't say when you parked - just that you parked there with no sign and you believed the bay was unrestricted.
Attach your hopefully not time stamped picture saying you took the precaution of keeping a record that there was no parking restriction.

You're lucky it didn't get towed, because you'd have got a massive bill for tow and storage. It's very unwise to leave cars unattended in London for long period, (18 days in your case), because parking suspensions are very common.
I suggest you submit an informal challenge stating that when you parked the car on 1st April there was no sign for the bay. Your GSV link shows there was a sign there in July 2024, not all that long ago. So in your reps you should also ask them when the new sign was put on the pole.

I came back 18th April and found the pcn

I left my car parked there on the 1st April and didn’t use it since. I didn’t know I wasn’t allowed to park there, I assumed there was no sign so it was free to park

When exactly did you park there. This is similar to being in a bay before a suspension is put up but you run a risk with a missing parking sign where you know you are not entitled to park.
PCN time: 17:12 on 17 April.

Hi, I left my car parked in this spot for a couple of days and got a pcn. However, when I parked it here there was no sign or restriction (it had been like this for months). To my surprise, when I came back to the car I had a pcn and there was a newly fitted sign. The GSV is https://maps.app.goo.gl/H6AE7WqDg7whaX9R9. I was parked right in front of the houses. I also have pictures of the place when there wasn’t a sign.
