You had until 4pm on Monday 14th April to submit an AoS which would have then given you until 4pm on Tuesday 6th May to submit a defence.

Anyway, you will next receive a letter from DCB Legal telling you that their client intends to proceed. They will probably include a copy of their N180 Directions Questionnaire (DQ) which you can just file. Follow these instructions on how to complete your own:

Having received your own N180 (make sure it is not simply a copy of the claimants N180), do not use the paper form. Ignore all the other forms that came with it. you can discard those. Download your own here and fill it in on your computer. You sign it by simply typing your full name in the signature box.

Here are the answers to some of the less obvious questions:

• The name of the court is "Civil National Business Centre".

• To be completed by "Your full name" and you are the "Defendant".

• C1: "YES"

• D1: "NO". Reason: "I wish to question the Claimant about their evidence at a hearing in person and to expose omissions and any misleading or incorrect evidence or assertions.
Given the Claimant is a firm who complete cut & paste parking case paperwork for a living, having this case heard solely on papers would appear to put the Claimant at an unfair advantage, especially as they would no doubt prefer the Defendant not to have the opportunity to expose the issues in the Claimants template submissions or speak as the only true witness to events in question
.."

• F1: Whichever is your nearest county court. Use this to find it: https://www.find-court-tribunal.service.gov.uk/search-option

• F3: "1".

• Sign the form by simply typing your full name for the signature.

When you have completed the form, attach it to a single email addressed to both dq.cnbc@justice.gov.uk and info@dcblegal.co.uk and CC in yourself. Make sure that the claim number is in the subject field of the email.

The issue was 25th of March. I panicked and sent it off, ive never had a letter from court and then saw ccj and thought id sent it asap.

In regards to doing it online it wouldn't let me log in I tried multiple times.

What would the next steps be when they do reach out ?

What was the issue date of the claim? You allow 5 days for service and then you have another 14 days to submit the claim or acknowledge service which then gives you an additional 14 days to submit the claim. You did not have to send anything by post and especially eating money on recorded delivery. You cold have done the Acknowledgement of Service (AoS) online using the MCOL and your defence could have simply been sent as a pdf attachment in an email.

Your only saving grace is that as the claim has been issued by DCB Legal, the most likely outcome, as long as you do the correct steps next, is that they will eventually discontinue. Even with a poor defence, you have a good chance.

I didn't counterclaim anything. I had a day to return this and just did what I thought was best before it got worse.

How much did you counterclaim for and what particulars?

You may want to search the forum for other N180SDT claims to see how we would have recommended you do ti.

I said;

I'm disputing the pcn for parking charges on the 29/9/22 & 1/11/22. I haven't received any prior correspondence regarding this, no letter, reminders or notice until last week.
By the time the notice reached me the 14days response period was up leaving me no opportunity to address the matter promptly via other avenues. I have tried contacting dcb legal and had no luck and I cant log onto money claim with the log in info to fast track this.

The situation has caused me alot of distress and had a serious impact on my mental health. The lack of communication and sudden pressure has been overwhelming and respectfully I ask that you take this into account when reviewing the case.

Please advise on the next step in disputing this.

Tell us exactly what you said rather than paraphrasing it.

So I filled in the defence and counterclaim section and disputed the full amount saying that I had no communication from the company until this claim letter came through my door

They have sent me a letter now saying that the claimant will contact me directly to resolve the dispute. Yes I did send it as recorded delivery and got proof of delivery.

What should I do when they reach out ?

...so i have filled out the form and sent off to the courts disputing it

Oh dear... if only you'd come here before you "filled" anything in and sent it off. Now we need to know exactly what you "filled in" and precisely what you wrote. If it was your defence, then I hope it is sufficient to persuade DCB Legal to discontinue in due course.

Did you defend the "whole claim"? Did you counterclaim"

Please tell us which forms you "failed in" and what you put for your defence. Did you do this by post? If so, did you get a free certificate of posting from any pos office or did you use recorded delivery?

Note from many cases here that when Parking Eye uses DCB Legal, the court case will progress and you will need to file a defence, but in due course DCB Legal will discontinue before they need to pay a court fee.
We need to see what you have received and what you have sent in order to give you more meaningful advice.

A “CCJ” will definitely not be the next step, they use the abbreviation because it might scare you into paying. I suggest you search this forum and read up on what a CCJ really is and isn’t.

If you want more advice then read https://www.ftla.uk/private-parking-tickets/read-this-first-private-parking-charges-forum-guide/ and post a history here plus copies of any documents received.

Hi all,

last week i received a claim form from the courts in regards to a PCN back in 2022. The claimant is parking eye but I've never received any letters from them or this legal firm DCB. They said a CCJ would be the next step so i have filled out the form and sent off to the courts disputing it, because I've never had any letters and surely would've been followed up in these 3 years?

I came on here because i don't know how this claim process works and i don't have any evidence and cant even think back to 2022, so i don't really know what to do when i get a reply back.

Is there any advice that can be given, it would be truly appreciated.

Thank you
