Sorry to say but you are, as you say, missing something because the road markings themselves are all that's needed and they are clear, as can be seen in the photos. Importantly, the spacing of the double kerb blips is absolutely correct, better than you see in most places i.e. within a car's length. This means that any driver paying the necessary attention could not miss them.
So, irrespective of any additional traffic signs the contravention occurred as regards the markings.
Presumably a commercial collection, which in my mind begs the question why customers in such restricted areas don't inform collectors of the hazards.
Are you the registered keeper with current DVLA details?

The kerb blips are in good condition although the double yellow line not.

OK, "a small sign a bit further down stuck to the wall", but there should be yellow kerb 'blips', two if there are double-yellow lines there, to warn you that there is a No Loading restriction as well as the No Waiting one.
So are there any kerb blips there ?

Google Street View link pl or just tell us exactly where you were parked.
A virtual (GSV) trip along Old Broad St. shows no waiting or loading 24/7 for most of its length with limited loading windows in some places between 7pm and 7am.

Good morning,
I was parked in this street on a double yellow to pickup a delivery for the shop across. I have all necessary proof of delivery so that is not an issue. However when I came back there was this ticket and the problem is when I got out and checked for signs I couldn’t see any loading restriction signs. However, when I came back I realised that it was a small sign a bit further down stuck to the wall and it was obstructed by a van when I first parked there. Any way I can appeal?
