I have a feeling (and please correct me if I have this wrong) that it isn't only signs banning a U-turn you have to watch out for. I believe that if there is a No Right Turn sign at the junction you are also prohibited from doing a U-turn (because a U-Turn would involve you turning to the right out of your lane). Presumably also forbidden if there is a straight on only sign.

I always do U-Turns! Just watch out for any signs saying you can't.
-
If it was illegal to do a U turn in London, I think our PM would be totally screwed!
-
Ask a black cab driver, renowned for doing U turns.
-
He also told us in generally in London U-turns are not allowed.
Your colleague has got it exactly the wrong way round. Generally, in London (as elsewhere), U-turns are allowed (unless signage indicates otherwise).

Wrong sub-forum. This should be in the flame-pit. A mod will move it eventually.
However, do you see any no U-Turn signs on the approach to that junction? Your colleague is talking out of his arris.

We need help!
We recently started driving in London and a colleague told us we can not do a U turn at this traffic light - https://maps.app.goo.gl/PskEvnUeiFqkjUdJ7 . He also told us in generally in London U-turns are not allowed. ( ??? )
At this traffic light we come from South east and taking a U-turn (See pictures attached). Would you mind helping out:
1. Can we make a U-turn here - the way we present it (see red line on pictures attached)?
2. If there isn't a "forbidden U-turn sign" can we do a U-turn in London?
3. Who do we contact in London's authorities for clarity for any of those matters?
