Is your car’s V5C showing an address which is correct for you?

If so, I would ignore this, and only take action if you receive something in the post.

It’s clearly laughable even though you’re getting unnecessarily worried by it, but if the car park operator has sense they’ll see the error.

If you get something in the post, you have a formal route to “appeal” and get them to stop being silly. Only an idiot would think that you’d been parked there for more than 40 days.

One of those logos at the bottom looks like the IPC roundel to me.

Please tell us that you didn't identify as the driver when you communicated with LNER. Any communication from you must only be as the Keeper of the vehicle. If you have identified yourself as the driver, you have blown away any defence should they be so stupid as to try and prosecute this obvious error with there ANPR system.

Looking on GSV, LNER appears to manage the car park themselves but I cannot read the detail on their signs, or whether the logos on the bottom reflect any affiliation with an ATA.

Depending on the wording on their signs, they will either issue a Parking Charge Notice (PCN) under civil contract law or a Penalty Notice (PN)under railway byelaws as a criminal offence, if they decide to try and do anything about it at all.

You need to demand clarification from LNER about their intentions of this obvious failure of their ANPR system and a "double dip" scenario.

Sorry I haven't any details of the company who looks after parking at Darlington station. As mentioned I contacted LNER but I have not had a response.

Welcome to FTLA.

To help us provide the best advice, please read the following thread carefully and provide as much of the information it asks for as you are able to: READ THIS FIRST - Private Parking Charges Forum guide (https://www.ftla.uk/private-parking-tickets/read-this-first-private-parking-charges-forum-guide/).

Photos of the signage would be useful so we know which parking company might be involved.

Hi, I wonder if anyone has suggestions on how to resolve a parking issue.
I parked in the short term parking at Darlington rail station on the 4th January. There was a short train delay but I collected my passenger and before leaving I entered my car registration to check if there was any fee due.(20 min free parking) Nothing came up on the screen so I assumed I had nothing to pay and I left the station. On the 13th February I parked in the short term parking again and on exit I entered my number plate details again but I got a message saying number plate not recognised with a photo of a similar but different number plate. I tried again with the same error message. I saw a box asking to enter my number plate manually. This time a message came up saying I had overstayed parking by 40 days 8hrs and 18mins and I owed £437.50. I have not had any corresponds through the post and I am concerned the amount owed is still increasing. I have contacted parking@lner.co.uk twice by email without any response. I would like this issue to go away but I am unsure what to do next.
