The off-carriageway parking ban has been an offence in London since the 70s, and needs no signs or lines.

The PCN was served so can make representations saying it wasn't there when you returned to the car and ask for the discount to be reinstated.
You can ask for discretion being from out of town.
Unless we can see anything else but footway parking is hard to challenge in London.

Hi there
I received a Notice to owner last week, informing me of a contravention code 62, that was served on 1st January 2025.
It is clear that from the photographic evidence, that my tyres are just on the curb.
To note, when I received the letter last week it was the first I had heard of the contravention. Even though you can see that a ticket has been placed underneath the windscreen wiper, when I drove the car away that day about 5 hours later, there was NO ticket on the windscreen.
Other observations:
I was really careful to park just a little bit on the curb - there were vehicles parked on the other side at the time I parked, and I wanted to make sure I left enough space for cars to pass and for pedestrians and wheelchairs to be able to access the path.
I live in Liverpool, and was visiting a friend. I had not heard of this regional law before preventing me from parking on the curb. Not that I do, but here in Liverpool there is a culture of people parking on paths.
I am not sure what to do. If I had known about it prior to the letter arriving, as in if the ticket was still on my windscreen when I collected the car I assume I might have been given the opportunity to pay half the £110 penalty charge?
Any thoughts on how I could respond / deal with the matter?
