You have no right to see any evidence at this stage, you could ask for a 'copy of any photos to help confirm the drivers ID' BEFORE naming the driver, but be aware that it doesn't give you any extra time in which to reply.
It's worth adding, if you have some genuine doubt as to whether you were there or whether it was your car, this is worth doing.
If you know it was you, then asking for photos just because you can seems somewhat pointless (and in putting off the response to the s172, you increase the risk of something going wrong, even if only marginally).
-
If you don't reply to the 'NIP' (well the S172 request on the same piece of paper) then you commit a more serious criminal offence than the speeding (6 points and typically no change from £700).
Also as you won't have confirmed who was driving then no offer of course or fixed penalty could be made.
So yes, I would reply.

Never done a speed awareness course. Have had a completely clean licence for about 15 years.
Should I reply to the NIP and confirm that I was the driver? Ask for evidence, etc?

What kind of fine/points can I expect?
A speed awareness course (about £100) or, if you’re not eligible or don’t want to, a fixed penalty of 3 points and £100.

Have you done a driver improvement course in the past 3 years? If not, I'd expect one to be offered, it's basically around half a day of your time and £90-£100 for the course fee. No fine and no points.

Hi,
I received the following NIP. I recall the journey and also that the speed limit fluctuated frequently. Nevertheless, I am known for being a very careful driver, so this came as a surprise to me and seem very unfair. I have not yet responded to it. Can you please advise what I should do?
TIA
