Well, thanks for your help nonetheless!
I will definitely be using this forum in future, keep up the great work!
Best,
PT

Unfortunately, I did just pay it, as I don't think I do,
That's a shame, maybe half people who come here don't think they have good grounds and maybe 90% end up winning in the end.

I can see the photos but can't copy them over.

You have two arguments
1 that the CPZ sign only controls the yellow lines
2 that there is no evidence of the match day being displayed

Unfortunately, I did just pay it, as I don't think I do, though would have waited if I'd seen this in time. It was specified as different parking times on "match days", but there was a small sign at the turning into the road which said that those days this month were 3rd and 30th... Just not on any of the signs along the road, which is what I'd been looking at!

don't pay till we can look at this in a bit of detail to see if you have a case

Hi there,
An update - while I was receiving the same error message this morning, just now the PCN was acknowledged, so presumably took a while for it to be logged on the system, although the fine was from Sunday!
Thanks for your help.

Hi all, thanks for help so far.
@Pastmybest, I can't post the council photos as I can't access them, due to the error message.
@andy_foster and @DancingDad, it's the paying website listed on the ticket which was on the front of my windscreen!
-
I think Mr Chips already pointed out (on Pepipoo) that it was Islington and suspected you were trying the wrong site/
If you have sorted and paid, let us know please.
If you want to see if you can challenge, provide full details ...all the PCN and location.
For future reference, can't pay may mean a phone call or email or letter to the council to resolve but will not avoid the lawful progression.... all the way to bailiffs...which is not good

Works fine for me.
Presumably either their system hadn't caught up or you entered it wrong (or on the wrong site). The first letter is a capital "i" (for Islington).
The portal I found by googling "Islington pay pcn" indicates that the reference number begins IS or IZ - generally googling to find an official site to make a payment is considered risky because you might inadvertently find yourself on a scam site (beyond what a reasonable person might think of conveying a parking restriction with reference to match days), but if the site has information about the contravention beyond that which you provide (or can be readily generated from such information), it's pretty safe to assume it's legit.
In general, being bloody minded can work for you if you are totally in the right, are able to prove that you are in the right, and willing to do so. The answer to "why should I" in other cases is pretty much the same as the answer to "what will happen if I don't".

Post all the council photos and all of both sides of the PCN and a GSV of the location

Hi there,
I received a PCN, as apparently the day I was parked on that road was a "match day" (as someone who doesn't follow football, I'm not sure how I was supposed to know that), but anyway, they legally have me. However, when I go to pay the PCN online, I'm presented with a message saying "PCN and vehicle combination not found. Please try again." If I can't pay it online, do I just have to wait indefinitely until my car is clamped, and I owe £500+? I'm reluctant to ring them, partly because I don't see why I should chase them up to fine me when it's their problem, and partly because I struggle with raised blood pressure...
Have attached photos of the error message and PCN.
Any advice greatly appreciated!
Regards,
PT
