Don’t ask AI for opinions. AI is good at making things that look right and sound reasonable, but are actually completely wrong.

I’m a software developer. Believe me, AI is useless and gives wrong answers all the time. It’s not as smart as everyone thinks it is.

This is a council matter. No points. Just a penalty charge.

There will either be a CCTV camera attached to a lamp post, watching the entrance to the area, or they’ll occasionally send a CCTV van round to watch it. You don’t get penalties from eyewitnesses or Ring doorbells. Council have to catch you themselves.

You’ll find out at some point in the next 28 days. The most it can be is £65 if you pay within 14 days. It’s £80 for some TfL things in London but I don’t think this is one of them.

We deal with live cases here although we do have a 'have I been caught' threader the worried well.

Chances are you will get a PCN but as said check your V5C and update this thread if you do get a PCN - the thread title is also not at all helpful for tracking cases at certain locations.

PCNs are civil penalties, so you could never get points on your licence, nor is there any possibility at all of a CCJ. Thousands upon thousands of PCNs are served every year, making councils millions of pounds. It is the biggest scam in the UK, because councils ruthlessly game the system to maximise the cash flow. Fortunately we on this web forum know all their tricks now, and have some of our own to use against them !

Best to stop worrying until you get an actual PCN in your hand. However as the PCN will be sent by post using the address on the V5 Registration Certificate for the vehicle, are you the owner with your name and address on the V5 ?
This is a very important question, so please reply asap.
Title: Possible Penalty Charge Notice

Hi,

I'm preparing myself for a Penalty Charge Notice, but getting mixed information. I came across this forum and hope that I can put myself at ease for possible outcomes.

The street and sign in question is attached.

There's an opening further down the street that is right outside my kids school, so I used it as a personal drop off point. My only reason for ignoring the sign is stupidity, I saw other cars going down there, not considering they probably live on that street. I totally get why the sign is there, if I lived there I wouldn't want droves of parents dropping off their kids.

On one of the drop offs, my kid was taking a bit long and I clocked a resident spying on me, a sudden wave a guilt hit me and I vouched not to do it again, but that's all too late now. I've spent the last few days thinking I'm in trouble.

I'm more than willing to pay any fine that may come my way, but I'm worried about points. Google AI says three points with a PCN and because it wasn't the first time, there could be more than one PCN. But looking over other peoples run in with this sign, the PCN doesn't mention points. Are points usually given for this offense?

I did scope the street out a couple of times afterwards, looking for ways they could prove I did it. I accept I still did wrong, but what evidence is required? As far I could see, there may have been some ring doorbells, residents own security cameras. The particular house where I saw someone watching, they do have an outside camera that may show myself, maybe they took a picture on their phone, but there doesn't seem to be an official DVLA issued camera present in the area. I understand proof is needed without any doubt the offense was committed. I just want to avoid points.

Thanks
