Old BB expired 1/12/24; New BB valid from 7/12/24
-
So, we assumed (incorrectly) that the BB had been registered correctly and the discount was in place

Hi, looks like the initial registration in mid December was unsuccessful but we did not get an email until the 2nd of Jan informing us below (NB they did receive all the information required but one side of the BB was blurred whihc is why it was rejected)
You recently applied for the 100 per cent Blue Badge Discount.
We asked you to provide us with a copy of both sides of your Blue Badge and one additional proof of identification to
support your application.
• As we haven't received a copy of both sides of your Blue Badge your discount application hasn't been successful.
You must provide the following or your registration will be rejected:
● A copy of both sides of your Blue Badge
Together with one of the following proofs of identity in the name of the badge holder: Pension Entitlement Letter
(less than 7 months old)
●
● DWP Benefit Entitlement Letter (less than 7 months old)
● Current Bank or Credit Card Statement (not more than 3 months old)
● Current Passport
● Current Driver's Licence
● Birth Certificate (same first and last names as Blue Badge)
● Institutional Blue Badge holder Letter

and received an email to confirm
This hinges on the date and time at which TfL acknowledged that your renewal application was successful. As I understand it, this does not work retrospectively, in other words of your old BB expired on, say, 10 Dec, and your new badge became effective on 11th but TfL did not put your vehicle on their exempt lost until 14th then you were not exempt between 11th and 14th.
These dates are critical, pl put them all up front. We need to know whether you have a defence based in substantive grounds or only mitigation.

Update, the first submission was unsuccessful as TFL could not see the photo on the BB, called TFL and made a resubmission which was successful and received an email to confirm
When did you do that?
When did the old BB expire?

Ok, no confirmation message; that's why we made the call
-
TBH I'm not sure about the confirmation, will have to check
-
We called as the new BB wasn't showing online
Yes, we did have that confirmation
-
'Until we confirm your application is successful you must pay the charge for journeys within the zone.'
Putting your inputs to one side, do you have this confirmation?
-
Why did you feel the need to call them after registering the new BB online - isn't there an account or status that shows you anything?

Hi
Have a CC exemption due to a Blue Badge. The Blue Badge expired early December and received a new one around a week later. Mid December (circa 15th) registered the new BB online with TFL and called the helpline to register as well (belt and braces). They told me it would be uploaded onto the system asap. I drove into London on 24th Dec and a couple of weeks later received a CC fine. To me, it seems a pretty straight-forward representation against the fine as the BB was valid and in date, was uploaded to the site and I was entitled to travel within the CC without charge. Anything I should be worried about or anything else to mention in the representation? Thanks
