Following a satnav without looking out for signs, or seeing them and then ignoring them and continuing with the satnav instructions, gets people a lot of PCNs in London. Satnavs are almost never up-to-date. The GSV view showing the road layout shows the council have gone the extra mile to make it obvious the only turn allowed is to the left. So I cannot see any credible appeal argument for the contravention itself.

There may, however, be a 'technical' appeal based on council mismanagement of the enforcement process. In addition, PCNs can contain errors of content that render them void, although tba, I cannot see any such errors.

So wait a bit to see what the others say, but don't miss the payment or appeal deadline on the PCN.

Thanks. Lesson learned for not following satnav blindly. First time driving in London. I was thinking on putting an appeal before the discounted price end date. That should stop the clock and hope for council to waive off the charge.

Is there any sample appeal that I can refer to. And can I mention the satnav point in my appeal?

Regards

Hi All,

I received a PCN for performing a prohibited right turn from Laurence Road into Prince Regent Road in Hounslow. I missed the signage and followed google navigation blindly. Google maps still shows a right turn if navigation is switched on, I have reported it to google now.

Asking the query here to understand if there is a way to appeal the PCN and what can be the grounds to appeal?

Thanks
