Title: Re: PCN Parking Eye - Overstay at McDonalds

Just help the OP get this right in their head...

Some private company sends the Keeper a speculative invoice because they allege that the driver has entered into, and then broken the terms of a contract and is now in debt to them. However, just like a market seller, they tempt the Keeper with a "discount" if they pay this invoice without challenging it. The Keeper (whether they were the driver or not) thinks, "Oooh, that's not bad... a 40% discount, I'll go for that."

Do you pay every invoice that you ever get without thinking or checking whether you actually owe the money or whether it is correct?

Sadly, these unregulated private parking companies issue over 41,000 PCNs a DAY!!!! They make almost two billion £ a year in profit... and we can see why. A licence for ex-clampers to scam all the Sheeple who know no better.

Anyway, I've paid the invoice. They let you pay at the discounted rate when you try to appear (as it was beyond the reduced pay period).

really??

No one suggested it is simply paid because of the "mugs discount".

I've sent the driver in twice today and the original manager isn't there. Unfortunately, it looks like the manager has screwed us.
It also seems like there are many managers...

Anyway, I've paid the invoice. They let you pay at the discounted rate when you try to appear (as it was beyond the reduced pay period).

An expensive lesson for the driver...!

Thanks

The manager screwed you. Your Plan A is to go back with the PCN and ask the same manager to get it cancelled. Anything they tell you that is not in writing is not worth the paper it isn’t written on.

When you’ve done that, come back and tell us what happened.

I haven't been in since the letter today. I thought I would get advice first.
I could give them a call.

Hi Everyone

I appreciate your help with the below. I am the owner and registered keeper of the car.

Upon entering the car park, the driver found a space, parked up, and went inside McDonald's for a kids birthday party. The driver bought food so was a paying customer.

The limit on car park is 1hour 30mins, however the driver spoke with the manager part way through the visit but before 90mins and gave the number plate who said it was ok to stay beyond the 90mins.

The driver stayed beyond 90mins, but less than 120mins.

I can only assume the manager didn't do anything with the number plate, and some time later over the Christmas period a letter from Parking Eye was sent. This was 10 days later.

The driver took said letter to McDonalds (on the 11th day) and the manager took the letter and said they will sort it.

Today (20 days later) we have received a reminder to pay, which is now beyond the discount period.

How should I go about challenging this? If the manager in the first instance has said 90mins is max, the driver would have left in good time.

Thanks in advance.

Attached is the letter (with redacted info), and terms of the carpark.
