This might be one for the strategy of last resort, described here: https://www.ftla.uk/civil-penalty-charge-notices-(councils-tfl-and-so-on)/city-of-edinburgh-02-parked-in-a-restricted-street-lochrin-buildings-gilmour-pla/msg7413/#msg7413

Footway parking is an instant issue PCN and there's no way that the customary such parking applies to yellow lines. I've checked the traffic order map and there are no footway parking bays in the road or area so likely no resolution misapplying the footway ban.

Should I pay the fine then?

Please post a GSV link to the location, but I have to say that if you rush around London and park without looking whether it is allowed or not, then you're going to get a lot more PCNs, which even the advice on this forum may not get you out of paying.

This is the GSV.

Ah, yes, a typical Dagenham estate where off-carriageway parking is commonplace, but obviously not where there are double-yellow lines. I see no signs that permit such parking, but this council seems totally oblivious to the need to sign such things.
I'm afraid you have nothing to put on any reps. Nobody yet seems to have suggested any 'technical' appeal.

So you parked on double-yellow lines that apply 24x7, and also part on the footway, which has been an offence in London since the 70s. This means the CEO  had a choice of contravention to apply to the PCN, and chose the off-carriageway option because this has no exemptions.

So what made you think that parking partly off-carriageway directly upon double-yellow lines was OK ? Double-yellow lines require no signs, because they apply 24x7

I was in a bit of a rush and popped to the shop nearby, not having noticed at the time where I was parking.

I was parked on the double yellow lines next to the brown bin.  :-[

There are no signs on the street.

I saw the cars on the right and the cars in front and assumed it would be safe to park there.
So, as per MickR's question; where were you parked ?

where were you parked in the GSV ?
are there now any signs allowing pavement parking anywhere in the street?

Hello.

I have been a good driver this year so far and just before the year was about to end, I got hit hit with a PCN in my own backyard.
To be honest, I was in a bit of a hurry. I saw the cars on the right and the cars in front and assumed it would be safe to park there.

I am happy to be told to man up and pay the fine if nothing can be done.
