Title: Lewes Road Brighton bus lane contravention 34
Post by: Mr H on December 05, 2024, 08:54:22 pm
Hi

Apologies I'm a newbie so don't even know if what I'm doing is correct.

I received a PCN 34 today for driving in a bus lane (Loc=2262).  Am I able to appeal because I found myself in this lane because of lack of signage and then was unable to move out of the lane due to a car on my right hand side?

I was travelling west along the A27 when I realised that I had made a mistake and pulled off on the A270 Lewes Road and approached a set of traffic lights where I could turn right towards Stanmer Park (under the A27) and then right again to head back onto the A27 Eastbound.  I was in a single lane and turned right onto this slip road back onto the A27 keeping to the left hand side, only to discover that this was a bus lane and there was another lane to my right.  There was no advance warning that there was a bus lane.  Unfortunately there was another car in this lane by now so I couldn't move over, even though I realised that I was in the wrong lane.

Any advice gratefully received.

Many thanks

Mr H
