Which is correct if you did not hold a valid permit...which would be a reasonable starting point for RingGo given that they only deal with payment.

It's not their role to give a view on what a composite parking place sign means, they deal with payments.

CP hasn't said what grounds for appeal there are but I'm guessing it's a poor website representation form. It would help if he said.

I'm relieved not to have been put on the forum naughty step.

OP, I'm just trying to get the hard evidence up front.

The CEO's photos clearly show your car and (although not in the same shot) a traffic sign which has part-time restrictions mounted vertically on a post as follows:

Mon-Fri 4pm-7pm No waiting and No loading.
Parking at all other times free to resident permit holders, alternatively pay either by app or by contacting the specified number.

The PCN gives a time of contravention as 4.34pm Tues. 5 Nov.

So, if this sign regulated where you were then IMO the PCN was issued correctly.

GSV shows the local area where the CEO's photos place your car and the sign applies.

You say you spoke to a Ringo agent who advised that parking was free until 4pm which is correct if you told them you held and were displaying a valid permit.

Given the hard evidence, IMO any claim that you were advised to the contrary by a competent person would not have succeeded.  Whether there were any technical/procedural defences, we don't know as you hadn't progressed sufficiently through the enforcement process.

Thanks for caring. I have another one to post so I will actually wait for you on that as its at AoS stage. See you there
stamfordman only said that there was signage in the vicinity of where you parked and that there might be something in what you were told (the possible argument being that if a representative of the council told you that you could park, there's a legitimate expectation argument to be made on the basis that you should be able to rely on what was said to you). If he had told you to pay (which he didn't) he would have got a telling off for that.

I'll have a look at your other thread but you'll have to tag me or I'll never remember to look at it.

@cp8759
Couldn't be more gutted.

I came here for advise and while I know I didn't park in a bus lane as per the google maps link I just accepted what stamfordman said and took the defeat.

Personally I'm going through a lot so Ill put that loss on the pile  :'(

@JustMe this could have been easily won on appeal, but you barely gave me 24 hours to respond, the guide you were meant to read told to to allow 7 to 10 days for a response. Before you ask the question, no it's too late now, you've likely thrown your money away for nothing.

Hello

I parked here https://maps.app.goo.gl/YdjtuPQdLG2Lee5F7

I thought that parking was permitted to resident permit holders or pay by phone (Ringo). I parked and subsequently paid by speaking to someone, not via the app. I was told to pay until 4pm as its free parking then.

I did have issues. Call logs from my phone attached https://imgur.com/a/OaMwe8t

When I found the ticket on the car I used Islington councils online portal to direct their attention to my last call, duration and told them to speak to the people they have taking payments for parking. I didn't know about this forum then and the above is literally all I wrote to them thinking the matter would be over. It was not. They sent the attached letter. in the imgur link.

Ideally I don't want to have to pay a parking ticket as the signs I saw just had the pay or permit message on. I gave the Ringo agent the location so personally I feel like he has taken payment illegally. I would appreciating being set right if I am wrong. Help with a successful appeal would be a dream please.

I feel like I followed your instructions but I am dyslexic so this has been like the krypton factor on crack for. Apologies if something wrong.

@cp8759
Your GSV link shows no bus lane, except a warning sign about a bus lane beyond the "build-out" to the right, after which is commences.

So where were you actually parked ? Here: -

It's no waiting/loading 4pm-7pm so the PCN seems to be correct. It's a bus lane 4pm-7pm.

The bay sign looks to be nearby. There may be something in what you were told.

This sounds like a council PCN so I have moved this post to the Civil penalty charge notices (Councils, TFL and so on) (https://www.ftla.uk/civil-penalty-charge-notices-(councils-tfl-and-so-on)/) forum.

To help the users there provide you with the best advice, please read the following thread carefully and provide as much of the information it requests as you are able to: READ THIS FIRST - **BEFORE POSTING YOUR CASE!**, This section is for council, TFL, Dart/Mersey/Tyne etc. cases (https://www.ftla.uk/civil-penalty-charge-notices-(councils-tfl-and-so-on)/read-this-first-before-posting-your-case!-this-section-is-for-council-tfl-dartme/)
