Actually I have a house and car in GR so I got busted for 175 in a 120 by camera and got a police summons to go to the station and pay the ticket and give my licence for 60 days! I convinced them to keep my licence (it's a UK one) and they asked for proof of UK residence (UK passport and bank statements) so I just paid the fine.

This time they physically stopped me so physically took my licence. Anyway I offered further mitigation and now got it down to 20 days instead of the initial 60 days.

So, 165 in a 120 followed by a 170 in a 120 in a Greek registered car kept at a Greek address by a UK licence holder.

In GR there are hardly any fixed cameras but a lot of police radars so basically the opposite of the UK (way more police officers on the road both normal and traffic police), but it's changing, they are planning on installing thousands of cameras.

Europe is getting almost stricter than the UK with speeding! (still miles away from Switzerland but closing in, Switzerland is a police state that is too efficient for it's own good).

Of course if you get done by a fixed camera they can't do much about it once you're out of the country. :)

Who did you pay the bribe fine to?

The post office you need to pay it before submitting any mitigation lol

Got done for speeding in Greece 165kmh in a 120. (I guess the UK equivalent is doing 98 in a 70). Was caught by radar and stopped. They took my UK licence on the spot and said no licence for 60 days. I was allowed to drive for the rest of the day as normal ‘just show the ticket we gave you’ They told me to pass by the station the day after to see the station chief (no driving obviously) and write a plea. I did that and was told to give a call the day after. They said the 60 days became 30 days and if I was not happy to speak with the commander again. It’s interesting how Police Chiefs have so much discretion over such matters and this is never going to court either! The fine itself is 175 Euros.

I would say Europe is becoming more strict than UK in such matters these days!
