Thank you so much but I will just pay the fine as cannot afford to pay the £130 should it not be successful. As only 4 cases out of 6 have won it looks like it’s very much at the discretion of whomever deals with the case and cannot risk the full amount. Have been very touched by everyone’s kindness and willingness to help.

There have only been 6 tribunal cases, Two allowed and four refused.

Search parameter for location is -=---- Harrington Road/High Road

I was sure there had been more cases, with at least one mentioning signs obscured by foliage.

But then I'm living in the past somewhat.

would you mind sending me the link where you are searching it please
Not directly linkable but start here > https://londontribunals.org.uk/ords/pwslive/f?p=14952:30::INITIALISE::Y::&cs=3uMHszfjER9eFme-Ae_HWKEeiPmSxCV8gi77xK3Ql1fFodLpyZc0kr6zojMqByXLpffspO_ubBIXTV-jd5l4m8A

You then want E&TA register and 'search'

This is the one I was referring to…
“Quoted - There is no warning sign. On the approach to the turning there is a tree obscuring the view of the nearer pedestrian zone sign.

The issue of this appeal is whether the local signage is sufficiently adequate to warn motorists of the local restrictions. The issue was quite properly raised by the appellant and dealt with in their evidence by the local authority. Signage must be adequate and comply with the concept of fairness. Any sign should be clear, prominent and unambiguous.“

I was the one who won that case and yes I drove there and showed the evidence that there
- no advance warning to tell motorist
- the trees obscure the view and you can`t go back once you`ve already commited
- you have to look for other road users

Happy to drive there and provide you a footage as it is local to me.

Hi there
I have found the details on the registrar with the PCN mentioned in this forum in exactly the same spot and road of mine with the same issues and the appeal was allowed. However he drove there and posted a video of how difficult it would have been. I am in no position to drive there unfortunately. The decision was 7 August 2024.

Thank you for that. I did see that. My question is if it’s worth contesting. Ie has anyone done it successfully before?
Cases have won at tribunal for that location but don't expect the council to agree with you.
I've searched the register under 'Harrington Road' but nothing comes up. What was your search criteria ?
Searching is not always easy.
What I've done in the past is to 'browse' until I find a case for the location (not to difficult when the location is prolific)
Then copy the location exactly as recorded by the tribunal and search using that.

IMO, what a mad and dangerous layout.

Is it a carriageway or is it a footway?

It's constructed as a footway with nothing to warn pedestrians, especially the visually and mobility-impaired, that they're stepping onto a carriageway.

Who the hell walks along a footway glancing left and right to check that cars aren't about to run them over?

And from a driver's perspective it must draw attention to 'I  was focussed on vehicles coming from my left and also on pedestrians and ciclysts'.

And as for the reverse of the signs- shown in GSV as Ped and Cycle zone ends' how is this possible if the road is one-way? Who's going to read it, cars heading the wrong way?

Pleanty of cases have been won on inadequate signs for a traffic entry restriction, especially advance warning signs to prevent dangerous situations arising as you describe. However for this location you'd have to search the Statutory Register at London Tribunals quoting the street name.

GSV latest view is 2022, and doesn't show the actual signs, but does show the sign back ready for the actual sign. Or it might be one of these folding signs only displayed on the relevant days/months

There are no advance warning signs on High Road in the 2022 view

Hi everyone

I was driving on Leytonstone High Road and turned onto Harrington Road

Google Maps Link - https://maps.app.goo.gl/cpLMFdWJxmr9x5LY9

When driving on Leytonstone high road there are no advance warning regarding vehicles not being able to turn right. As I was turning right into a one way road, I was focussed on vehicles coming from my left and also on pedestrians and ciclysts and so I did not see the signs right at the start of the road. But even If I had, considering it's a one way road, I could not have done anything else. I`m not sure if the council expects drivers to just reverse back onto oncoming traffic in this situation.

It's my first PCN in 25 years so am unsure what to do.

I have attached the council's photo. Is this something that can be appealed?
I saw a similar post to mine and was wondering what the outcome was. i.e. is it worth me pursuing this.

Please note Date of notice is 28/10/2024.
