Difficult to answer without sight of the photos.
Which we can't look at until the OP makes his Google Drive link 'public'

MANY many thanks for replies and especially for links. I should have followed my instincts, ignored the advice of the others and found somewhere else to park. I went back and saw the double transverse lines (I think they're called). It has been an education..I don't normally drive around town and wasnt aware of the yellow transverse marks, single and double. My own fault. I assume no point pleading for mercy for a first time offence....?

Do you know how far from the sign the No Loading restriction applies? There wasn't a marked bay that I could see.
Chalk and cheese I'm afraid.
In general, parking places allow activities, yellow lines don't.
Yellow lines can have 'No loading' signs, bays(when in effect) cannot instead they'll have 'Loading Only' with perhaps a time period.
If you couldn't see a bay then absent any photos it's reasonable to assume there wasn't one. Therefore this is strictly a yellow line and loading issue.
However, 'No Loading' on its own is not an approved traffic sign because its meaning is conveyed by kerb 'blips' alone - see items 1-4 of Part 4: https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2016/362/schedule/7/made
We really do need photos to unravel these contradictions, so over to you.

You need to set the PC picture to public access. Don't blank anything on it.

You need to make your photos etc. public pl.
While we're waiting, in general a BB is not valid where loading restrictions are in effect.

Yesterday, I dropped off friends in Worthing town centre. Then moved a few feet along and parked on double yellow lines, about 15 feet from NO LOADING sign. Two friends had Blue Badges for the disabled and one was on display with the correct time. Less than two hours later we all returned to find the PCN (my first ever, very annoying).
Here's a link to the photo of the PCN: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Axlg_j5stKP8ssGx6OZAkAkSfZYBOi24/view?usp=drivesdk
Should I appeal? If so, what should I write? Any advice much appreciated.
