Their last photo shows a yellow line, but if that is the case, there should be a sign giving the restricted hours. If it's in a CPZ, which controls the yellow lines, a sign should be there because parking is allowed so  the parking hours must be shown.  So really we need to see what sign is there now. I see on GSV that the first bay as you drive in to St John St has a yellow line, but not the one you parked in. The sign for the bay on GSV of 2023 just shows a 'P' sign, with no hours.

Basically, if you want to take this all the way, you need to show inadequate signage of the parking arrangements, so need to do some legwork with a camera, and post the photos here. We need to see what signs are in place. Knowing how dozy councils can be, it would not be surprising to find the signs are not adequate.

Stamfordman's post overtakes mine, as it shows the relevant sign, with a No Waiting 8pm-8am above the Parking sign.

So essentially, it seems you just parked-up and didn't bother looking for the sign, or notice the fairly new yellow line that should have alerted you to a parking restriction.

I've not looked at this in detail and am not around most of day but possible 10 min grace period but we know the argument against parking place  turning into no waiting.

Contravention is 01 timed at 20:05.

Says an NTO has been sent.

Would rather not post details if possible!
What detail on a PCN is private?

Is there anything specific you would need to see?

The PCN with no redactions.
You can redact PCN Number and car reg if you want, but then it is up to you to obtain photos, as without these, we can't look at them, therefore full advice cannot be given.

YOu might also post a GSV link to the exact location, so we can have a virtual look around

Title: Manchester PCN

Hi all,

I parked on St John Street in Manchester City Centre at around 19:38 on a Saturday evening. I paid for 30 mins parking to cover until 8pm, after which I believed it was free to park until 8am.

I challenged the PCN and they have rejected it.

I just want to clarify if I am in the right or not? If not I will happily pay the £70, but I am just not sure! They are correct, there is a single yellow line going across the parking bays.

This is the info on Manchester Gov website:

Number of bays:
29

Zone:
Zone 2 - Monday to Sunday, 8am till 8pm, with no charge for parking on a Bank Holiday.
Restrictions:
Pay & Display 2 Hours, No Return Within 1 Hour

Cost:
up to 30 minutes - £1.45
up to 1 hour - £2.90
up to 1 hour 30 minutes - £4.30
up to 2 hours - £5.80
See how to pay by phone for your on street parking

I have attached my appeal rejection letter and the parking meter.

Also, there is definitely a single yellow line in the photos of my car that the warden took. They aren't there on street view so must be fairly new.

You can see the attachments here: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6557214/parking-fine-manchester-city-centre

It gives me an error when I try to upload them.

Thanks
