Our advice is to always submit some representations. TfL invariably re-offer the discount if you submit your reps within the discount period.

However, we do insist on some basic info for all threads, so please read this and update your post accordingly: -

Title: London congestion charge
Post by: mikeyranson on July 03, 2024, 08:51:59 am
I have had to use the congestion charge for work last week. I have automatic pay for ulez but never set up for congestion charge (CC).
I entered the zone on the 18th June. I set up the automatic payment on the 19th june, (day after). I didnt see anything on TFL website whilst setting up the CC auto payment to say about paying the charge for the day before so presumed it would be paid automatically after the third day that your allowed to pay if paying manually. So the charge needed to be paid by midnight on the 20th.
I received a penalty for the 18th, this morning in the post (3rd July) saying that the charge was not paid for the 18th.
I am so angry about the greed of tfl. They are parasites.
If your allowed three days after the entry to pay the CC, then i presumed this would also apply to auto payment.
What would be the difference.?
Should i pay the penalty now to cover my backside as i hear tfl inflate their fines and it is cheaper in case i lose the appeal?
I thought that once you pay a penalty, you have basically pleaded guilty and it is then un-appealable.
Your thoughts and advice would be appreciated
