When did you first find out about the CCJ?
This is one of my immediate concerns - the original post was on May 25th, so the OP has known about the CCJ since at least then, only returning to the thread today, almost 3 months later. Given the courts expect set-asides to be applied for promptly, this isn't ideal.

A bit more detail is needed if you are looking for assistance. All we know is that you have received a CCJ in default because you did not respond to a county court claim.

You did not respond to the claim because you failed to update your V5C and all correspondence went to an address you no longer reside at. The reason the claim was made was due to another driver who used your vehicle breached some terms or conditions at a car park.

How can the driver have paid the "parking ticket" if no one knew it had been issued in the first place? The unregulated private parking company has no idea who the driver was. All they know is that you are the registered Keeper and they sent all the correspondence about this to an address that you failed to update.

The only way you will get this CCJ removed is by applying for a set-aside which will cost £313, unless you can persuade the Claimant that in order to save costs, they should consent to a set aside under CPR 13.2 because the Claim was never served to a valid address. If they consent, the cost would only be £123.

If this is done properly, you wouldn't pay a penny and the cost would go to the Claimant. However, you have provided no other detail and so if you are looking for help with this, you need to get your finger out and start providing the necessary information. For example, who is the Claimant? Were they represented by a bulk litigator? What was the date of the alleged contravention? Where was the location of the contravention? What was the contravention? When was the claim issued? When was the CCJ issued? When did you first find out about the CCJ? How did you find out about the CCJ? How long has it been since the CCJ was issued? Why has it taken you until now to do anything about it since you founds out about it?

The list goes on but you will need to do your part.

Thea reason I didn't see the post was because I was out of the country for over a year and forgot to change the log book address, for which I received a fine and points.

Op, I wasn't trying to laugh at your misfortune. It's very easy (at least in the view I use and with my finger size) to randomly rate a post whilst scrolling.

Why do you think you knew nothing about the county court claim? Is the address on your V5C up to date? Go check that now.

If the judgment date is within the last 30 days then paying it can be sensible to try and ensure it doesn't go on the public register and ruin your credit rating.

Also, if you're the registered keeper, then for you to have not been aware of the matter until getting a CCJ would require an unusual amount of post to go missing. What exactly have you received (if anything) and when?

Not posting in the speeding offences section would be a start  ::)

Who is the claimant that has obtained the CCJ?

Hi All. I have another insured driver on my car and they received a parking ticket they didn't pay, I didn't know. To cut a long stay short this has resulted in me getting a CCJ as the registered owner. What can I do?
