There is nothing you can do to ‘swing the dial’. You either meet the criteria or you don’t.

10% + 2 is the usual start of enforcement, so you were 2mph into it not 1.

Anyway, do as requested and you should get a course offer.

Provided you have not done one in the last 3 years.

Really need some advice on speeding points

I currently have 6 points on my licence. SP30 23/9/2021 and SP30 28/1/2023                 In both cases, my recorded speeds were only just over the 10% +2 mph that I think is the margin. Today, I received a NIP for exceeding a 40mph limit by 7mph – once again only 1mph over the 10% + 2mph margin. Putting aside that I should pay more attention and be more careful, I am concerned at what having 9 points on my licence would do. So I was initially gratified to read in the NIP “If you provide this information on time, the driver may be able to take an educational course instead of paying a fine and having penalty points on their licence. Only available before 10/7/2024”

Apart from the fact that I probably need and would indeed benefit from attending a speed awareness course, I am asking FLA experts for advice on whether there is anything I can do to swing the dial in my favour so that I get offered the course rather than points. In sending them my driving licence number (as requested) what should, or can I say in addition to give me the best chance of a positive outcome?

Any advice would be very much appreciated

Thank you
