is there a way of posting a banner or such like that says "this post has been edited" ??
Edited posts on both sites carry the date and time of last edit - e.g. see Reply#5 above.

OK fair enough, obviously only you know that and I'm guessing.
I assume as and when the site picks up more traction the requests for editing will also increase. on the up side at least you have more active moderators than ppp.

Well, you can blame me for that one. The reason for it is as stated above.
I'm just thinking it's potentially giving you more work and taking up more of your time.
How so? Occasionally someone message me to request an out of time edit (for example because they've accidentally posted personal data they intended to keep private), but I get maybe one request a month, if that.

I'm just thinking it's potentially giving you more work and taking up more of your time. however I do agree when posters don't make it known they have edited it can make some subsequent posts appear disjointed

I think it's very helpful - and not just because it stops posters spitting out their dummy.
I noticed on Pepipoo that some posters would edit their posts after somebody had subsequently pointed out that they'd been "mistaken" about something they'd posted. It was quite obvious that the person who'd been mistaken then retrospectively edited their original post so that the "mistake" was removed - but they didn't indicate that they'd edited the original post.
It was obvious because the person drawing attention to the mistake had quoted the original mistaken post.
I think it's not on to go back to correct posts that you've got wrong without indicating that you're correcting a mistake - it ruins the continuity and integrity of the thread otherwise. If I'm going back to correct something I've got wrong I'll make it clear what I'm doing. eg [Edit: I've corrected this because user xxyyzz has subsequently pointed out I was wrong]
I also try to make it a rule not to edit a post if somebody has posted afterwards because it can make their responses look meaningless. If I do do that, I make it perfectly clear what I'm doing and why: eg [Edit: I've corrected this because later posts have shown I'm wrong]
I try not to edit anything except in the heat of the moment - ie I've just posted something and realised there's a typo or something.

I hesitate to suggest any of this as gospel since it varies according to view.
On my mobile in full view (or is it mobile view?) each post has a setting cog on the RHS by authors names.
Your own posts include Modify and delete options (until they disappear).

so another anomaly with this "mobile friendly" forum. it's only mobile friendly viewed in landscape
I personally find the Mobile Site to be a bit naff, however if you scroll to the very bottom and select 'Full Site', I've found (on my phone at least) you get a decent view that seems to fit itself nicely to the screen.
As I noted further up, I'd imagine the main issue with allowing longer edit times is the potential for misuse, whilst the genuine need to edit a post hours or days later is relatively rare. If there's a major error that needs correcting, one can always use the 'Report to Moderator' function.

Should appear at the top right of each post, like this:

The ability to edit one's posts is only available for a limited period after posting (I believe this is to reduce the potential for people to spit the dummy out and delete all their posts when the advice they receive is not to their liking).

I cant see how to edit my posts, what am I missing here?
