Hi all.
I was given a PCN for parking in a permit space on Rownham close near Ashton gate in Bristol. It is apparently a permit zone, however I was unaware of this as there is no signage on the street or entrance to street. I carefully checked when I parked! I appealed but it was rejected as there is a sign at the entrance to the zone and so apparently no more is needed. I'm appealing further, as the only sign is on a busy roundabout (at the entrance to blackmoors lane) and in order to traverse the roundabout safely (it was busy due to the running event I was attending, as well as a Bristol bears game on at the stadium) I could not reasonably be expected to notice the small sign. Further evidence to this is that a large number of cars on the street also had the yellow sticker when I returned!
Wondering if I have a chance of fighting this? It seems so unfair, but I suppose rules are rules! But I genuinely don't think it's at all reasonable for anyone unfamiliar with the area to notice the sign due to terrible/unsafe placement.

Hi,
In short I am appealing as I do not believe it was reasonable to expect me to know about the parking restrictions due to inadequate signage.
- There was no signage at all on the entire street or entry to the street I parked on (Rownham close). I checked carefully when I parked.
- The only sign regarding the parking restrictions seems to be on the entrance to Blackmoors lane off a roundabout. This is a busy roundabout with many intersecting roads. At the time I arrived there was increased traffic due to the running event (Towpath series, highly recommended!) I was attending at Ashton Park school, as well as a Bristol Bears game at Ashton Gate. Due to this, I was concentrating on the traffic and exiting the roundabout safely and did not see the 1off poorly positioned sign.
- Further proof of the inadequate signage is that when I returned to my car after the run many other cars on the street also had the yellow notice (and hopefully you would have heard from them too!).
- Of course I am really sorry this happened. I genuinely would not have parked on the street if I had known, and indeed I didn't on the next 2 of the monthly running events. But unfortunately I was simply not aware of the restrictions that first time (note, I have run the same events in previous years with no issues, am I right to think this is a new ish restriction?)
I won't take up more of your time. In short, I'm sorry but really do believe I could not have reasonably done anything different.
