I bought my car on 7th Dec 23 & just received a ULEZ fine for the same day at 21.07pm. But I have been nowhere near London since I owned the car!.

So on 7th.Dec at 3pm the car is in Wellingborough and at
21.07 is alleged to be in the ULEZ, whereas you know it to have been in Ecton.

The chances are that it was a clone in London :(

At the moment we don't even know the date of the PCN.

So please have a read of https://www.ftla.uk/civil-penalty-charge-notices-(councils-tfl-and-so-on)/read-this-first-before-posting-your-case!-this-section-is-for-council-tfl-dartme/

and post up here all sides of the PCN (only redact your name & address)
Any pictures from TfL site.
What you have written to TfL and their reply.

PLease also post a photo of your vehicle showing the number-plate from same angle as TfL's - it's a game of 'spot-the-difference'.

Also report to your local plod.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. No, I didn't take possession of the car in London. I took possession & bought the car in Northampton, Wellingborough to be precise at around 3PM on the day they state that it was in ULEZ at 21.07PM the same day. Which is feasible, but didn't happen. I picked up my fiancee locally & then drove it home in Ecton where it stayed. But I have no tracker on my phone & no one else, except my fiancee can vouch for where it was at the time of infringement.

I contested it & they replied asking for a statement from a neighbour & affidavit or proof from the police its a "ringer".

I'm unwilling to pay, because it didnt happen. But as per original post. There's no date/timestamp on the picture evidence supplied, so it must be before I took possession of the car.

Any ideas please? Sorry for the late reply. Just back from travelling!

Thanks,

Jason.

Can we move it back!

ULEZ is a council penalty.

OP, let's try some context pl:

Where did you take possession of the car?
At what time?

Obviously, if you took possession in London then that's one thing, but in Cornwall would be something else.

Wrong sub-forum. I've reported the post for it to be moved to the decrim (civil) sub where people can help you further.

Hi,

I bought my car on 7th Dec 23 & just received a ULEZ fine for the same day at 21.07pm. But I have been nowhere near London since I owned the car!. Is it possible that the timestamp and or date was wrong on the camera?

The fine shows a picture of my registration & the photo showing the front of my vehicle just has a stamp on it saying:
L733_11_0151 A3 Malden Way.

So either fake plates & a similar car, or the date/time is incorrect. As said, I've not been anywhere near London in the vehicle.

It is very coincidental though, that the fine is on the same day and approximately 6 hours after I bought the car.

I was going to contest, as the previous owner told me they were selling, to avoid ULEZ charges that they pay regularly when visiting his girlfriend.

Any suggestions on how to appeal this please, as I have no actual evidence & the car was bought on the same day as alleged offence, which i definitely didn't commit?

Thanks in advance,

Jas.
