Title: Re: Consequences and Handling of Speeding Twice Within 40 Minutes in the UK?

I hold an international driving licence, will I not be allowed to drive in the UK?
This always rings alarm bells as there is a lot of misunderstanding as to how long overseas licence holders can drive in the UK.

Can you tells us which country your licence is from, where you passed your test (if different) and how long you've been in the UK.

You will probably be offered a speed awareness course instead for one,...
Neither of the speeds quoted will normally qualify for a course. In a 50mph limit, 64mph  is the upper limit for a course and in a 70mph limit it is 86mph.

I was speeding twice on the M1 for 40 minutes before and after, driving 66 in a 50 speed limit and 90 in a 70 speed limit, what kind of penalty will I get and will it be considered a serious offence and thus go to court? I hold an international driving licence, will I not be allowed to drive in the UK?

Both offences qualify for a fixed penalty - £100 and three points**. You will probably be offered a speed awareness course instead for one, provided you have not done one in the previous three years. If you accept these offers (and comply with the conditions) that will be the end of the matter - no court involved.

** = points can't be added to your licence, so DVLA will set up a 'ghost' licence to record them in case of future offences, or of your later getting a UK licence.

BTW there is no such thing as an 'international driving licence'. It is a 'non-UK', or 'foreign' licence.
